Standup: I think I would favor neither. Story has the better chin and more power, but Maia is more experienced and is improving, plus he is slightly taller/longer. If Story gets aggressive, which he hasn't seemed to do very effectively yet, he could hurt Maia on the feet, though, but it is unlikely Story will get hurt here.
Ground: I would favor Maia due to his bjj expertise. Story has very good wrestling but in a pure ground fight Maia should and could take control the whole way through.
Clinch/close quarters: Maia will need to be aggressive to take this to the ground, as Story's TDD and clinch defense isn't lacking. This will be Maia's 2nd 170 fight from 185, but I see no size advantage for either, although I tend to think Maia will be more skilled here and Story, slightly stronger.
I am picking Maia, but am not very confident. If this goes three rounds, I see neither as unlikely to earn a dominant decision. Any knockout would be for Story, and any sub for Maia, but I like Maia's experience, skill, and newfound confidence at 170, even though Story has never been finished.

It was the loss to Brenneman, who took the fight on a days notice that put Charlie on the map. To get a name, you have to beat a name.
But the question now is if Rick is still a force to be reckoned with.
Demian Maia has some of the slickest Ju-Jitsu yet seen, yet seems to have lost his way. He refused to use it against Chris Weidman, to the shock and dismay of his fans. If Maia goes back to his ju-jitsu roots, it will be hard to see how he could lose to Rick. But this is MMA. Anything can happen. And usually does. As the Kim fight proved.

Prediction: wrong Story wrong Submission wrong Round 3
Round 1: Maia dominates the striking battle. Near the end of the round, Maia will almost KO Story with a spinning heel kick.
Round 2: Story gets Maia down with a judo throw. Maia wins the round by ground and pound from the bottom.
Round 3: Maia goes for the takedown, but gets kneed to the face. Story takes Maia's back and wins via rear naked choke.
