So i was reading on the internet that Lavar pleaded with Stefan to 'give the fans a fight'. After reading this I immediately changed my prediction to that of Stefan winning by submission in the first round. The reasoning behind this is that Lavar basically used 'fighter talk' to say he was scared of what Struve could do on the ground. I also like Struve's non-chalance about the whole thing where he basically said if Lavar didn't' want to go to the ground then he should just switch to boxing or kickboxing, which is exactly what Struve should have said. I mean we all know Lavar has no existing ground game, and only got away from Pat Berry out of sheer strength, but this was a bit much for me. I hope for Lavar's sake that he's training tones of grappling now, cause last night was a bit embarrassing for him. I mean seriously Struve pulled guard to get him down!

what are you saying? This fight was going to be a first round KO for Johnson or a submission for Struve. His comment didn't change anything

Pretty sure it was obvious that Lavar was going to get subbed by many people a long time ago, when he was subbed quite easily by Shade Del Rosario and Shawn Jordan without pretty much any troubles and those guys aren't highly regarded grapplers either. Not bad, but not outstanding currently, though they are greatly improving.

Of course he belongs in the UFC, in fact I'm gonna go and say it: Other than Shane Carwin, I think Lavar Johnson has the biggest bombs on his fist in the heavyweight division.

I'm surprised people gave Johnson a chance. I mean come on, Johnson was taken down and almost submitted by Pat Barry.
PAT ******* BARRY!

ya but he's one of the most powerful punchers we've ever seen and he was going against glass chin Stefan Struve. if he so much as tapped struve on the right spot, he could've KOed him. That's the argument.

I'm just sayin' I thought Johnson had the bigger weakness. If Struve is gettin' lit up, he can take it to the ground and use his submission game. Johnson on the other hand has only one hope, and that's his opponent deciding not to take him down because Johnson not only has horrible submission defense, but also horrible takedown defense.
Not takin' anything away from Johnson. The guy is exciting to watch, I just didn't think he could keep it standing long enough to finish Struve.

in every fight there's a fighter with a bigger weakness...you're stating the obvious. Just by going through your UFC 146 card I could question your round 1 KO pick for Bang Ludwig, a guy who hadn't knocked anyone out in 4 years and was facing a guy who was only KOed once, despite being known to engage in slugfests. but I won't.

Only coming in to say that Struve does not have a glass chin. Horrible defensive stand up? Yes. Glass chin? negative. He the only questionable shot he's been stopped by was Junior Dos Stantos' t/ko. The Browne and Nelson KO would KO anyone, but maybe the best chins out there. I mean just look at them:

well Nate Diaz was one of my most obvious picks ever when he fought Jim Miller.
I'm saying you got it right, good for you but don't go and start disrespecting people who picked the other guy, there's a reason why the fight was split 50-50 between Tapologists.

Lavar Johnson punches very well, but that is all that he does well. By this time next year he will no longer be in the UFC, he does not have the skills to stay in even the UFC's weakest division.

the UFC should have grabbed Johnson years ago.
he would always put out great fights against strikers.
