- Hughes vs. Trigg II
- Matt Hughes | Submission | Round 1
- 2005 | UFC 52

This match is #1 for a reason: To shame everyone who forgets what the greatest comeback ever really is. And to remind everyone of why this fight stands out amongst a crowd of dumb ****s who just forgot not to get knocked out or submitted. Let me set the stage: Trigg lands an illegal low blow that goes unseen, and the ref offers no aid. (unlike today when ***** made fighters get to call their own time outs, Hughes had to keep fighting) Trigg does his job and swarms on Hughes! He rains down punches on Hughes, and it looks like the champ is done! But then, through either brute force or my own cognitive distortion, Hughes goes Hulk Smash on the joint, picks Trigg up and runs him across the cage with the very takedown that defined all emphatic takedowns. Matt ground and pounds, gets the rear naked choke, and with blood dripping down his face, Frank Trigg is forced to tap yet again. Best. Comeback. Ever.
