Overeem got busted for roids, Dana said Mir/Velasquez is still on for UFC 146, and someone needs to step in as JDS's opponent...  There can only be one fighter to fill that spot...

Not a single MMA fan, no matter how much they grasp to the unofficial rankings and denounce Hunt as unworthy, would not smile to see him step into the octagon at UFC 146 with JDS, win or lose.

I would love to see the fight, I just dont think Hunt deserves it. The only reason he has a remote chance of getting this fight is because of scheduling conflicts.

If I were Dana id just cancel the bout, make Cain/Mir the main event and have the winner fight JDS a few months after.

You have to ask, what happens to JDS national credibility if he loses to Hunt? All the marketing dollars theyve put into JDS will be flushed down the toilet if he loses to a guy that the average fan has no clue about.

And technically Hunt just lost to Cro Cop. I dont like the idea of an 8-8 fighter challenging for the biggest title in the UFC.

I just think it's awesome that when Zuffa bought PRIDE and Hunt's contract at the same time, Dana told him he'd pay him his full salary for all of his fights remaining to buy him out (I think it was 3 fights left), and Hunt told him he wouldn't accept it and that he wanted to fight to get the money.  How can you not like that.

No, Haven NO. I often find it hard to argue with your well thought and rational arguments, delivered by the tongue of a true and glorious orator but Hunt has a chance, as does any fighter.

I think the odds would be a bit closer than that if you look past rankings and look at the fight stylistically.

A few things

1) Overeem isn't 'busted' of anything...yet. He just tested high. I'm not saying he is innocent, they just haven't come out and said that illegal substances were found or used yet.

2) Dana says LOTS of things. Things that he will go back on, no matter how big of an exclamation mark he put on a previous statement. So Cain or Mir may very well get bumped up to a title shot.

3) It is very unlike Dana to hold his cards to his chest for this long, especially about something as that has to do with the HW title in such a situation. They are waiting until the 24th, 3 days after the Jones/Evans bout. Speculate away.

4) As much as I'd like to see Hunt go in and slug it out with JDS in hopes for a KO of the century, what are the odds of that happening? JDS wants to stay champion, and has been touting his wrestling as of late, he could very well take Hunt down and submit him quicker than you can say "I want my money back".

I think the only thing that IS certain, is there will still be no Fedor or Tim Syliva in the UFC, which both sadden me :(

Hunt, Mir, & Russow are the only 3 Heavyweights who have won their last 3 UFC fights even on the roster (not counting JDS).

@CaptainSuperman Good point with the wrestling of JDS, I could see him taking Hunto down, he tried it against Nelson and Carwin the two guys he couldn't finish, the fight could play out like this...

JDS has really only showcased his striking in his fights thus far, even though like you said, he put it out there against Nelson and Carwin. He's been training it, and would probably liked to have tried it out against Overeem, but going out there and seeing what he could do with Hunt would be easier. I'm sure he would want to show the rest of the division he's not one dimensional

omg, how epic would it be if Hunt subbed JDS.  If JDS had a weak point it would have to be his jiu-jitsu, and we know Hunt's been improving his in the last couple fights (remember him almost subbing Rothwell?).

Highly unlikely, but that would be one of the biggest *** moments in UFC history.

I agree with the last 3 but a a 14:1 ratio, you're busted.  Overeem has a right to request them to test his B sample but it was taken at the same time so it's not like it's going to come back at 5:1.  Over 6:1 is over 99% accurate and there has never been a case in human history of a naturally occurring T/E ratio over 6:1.  If he was cycling off of an oral steroid at the time of the test then he would've been under the 6:1 less than two weeks later.  Just ****** timing for him really.

@Kpro: That's why I said he's not busted...yet.

If he was busted, then please, tell me what was he using then? Like I said, neither the NSAC nor Overeem, or even Dana/UFC have said anything about the subject. You'd think by now Dana would have been on twitter insulting Overeem for even thinking about applying for his license.

@kaon, I hope that was sarcasm, Hunt subbing JDS? JJ being JDS' weakpoint? He's a brown belt and trains at Black House...god I hope that was sarcasm.

Well someone charged with robbing a gas station on camera who's only been charged isn't guilty ...yet either.  They're still busted.

And there are thousands of different chemical structures of steroids and designer drugs that will elevate your T/E, so I'm not sure where you're going with asking me to tell you what he was using.  The appeal process alone would go on beyond the scheduled fight day and no athlete in any sport has been cleared of a level that high.  There's no possible explanation unless the NSAC has paperwork on their desk that they didn't know about regarding Overeem having a TUE for TRT.

It's safe to say he's busted bro.  I'm not sure why that's being refuted by you.  Even if he was miraculously cleared of everything and deemed innocent with no suspension, it would be months from now, and he still wouldn't be able to fight JDS next month.

And as far as Dana White being silent; the day the story broke he said and I quote:     “I am beyond pissed about this. I’m so angry right now I can’t even begin.  It’s beyond — what’s the word I’m looking for — it’s beyond belief. It’s beyond comprehension. You’re an absolute moron, a brain-dead absolute ******* dummy. It goes beyond a guy having any common sense whatsoever.”
