Prediction: correct Sonnen   correct Decision

I had Bisping winning the first two rounds, with Chael obviously winning the third.  Chael had a few takedowns in those first two rounds but did nothing with them and Bisping got back up quickly.  I thought Bisping won the striking and the clinch game as well in the first 2.  I'll have to look at the fight stats, but after the first viewing, Bisping got robbed IMHO.

That post fight tirade was ripped off almost word for word from Superstar Billy Graham. Bloody Elbow called it an homage, but I think that's being kind.  Makes me wonder how much of Sonnen's antics are actually original.

I think the fight could have gone either way, but Bisping's stock is higher now and Sonnen's is lower.

I think Sonnen edged out round 1 and won round 3 decisively, but damn. Michael Bisping really brought the fight. Bisping vs. Silva would be super awesome.

Mike - What did Bisping do in round 1??? The excahnges were even ( although Sonnen landed more) and he scored the takedown. SOunds like a 10-9 round for me.

No, Bisping didn't get robbed.
I thought 30-27 Sonnen was BS though.
29-28 Sonnen (1st/3rd round) was the correct score for the match. Sonnen was dominant in the first half of the first round and I'd consider the second half of the first round almost neutral.
It's just that Sonnen underperformed and Bisping exceeded expectations and Joe Rogan's commentary that caused people to think that Bisping was robbed.

The 30-27 was stupid. The rest as most people point out were normal scores. I'd rather people not get points for pointless takedowns (because Chael does nothing when he takes you down, at least nothing that could hurt you) but under current rules yes he could have won.

Though I have to say I was supper bummed. I wanted bisping to win so Silva can KTFO him and Sonnen to loose so Palhares can rip his leg off.

I keep hearing that report was not accurate... The 30-27.

Thanks Thiago !!! I rewatched the fight in the meantime and the first round was a close one, closer than I thought it was, the first time I watched it live. Even though Bisping lost the fight officially, I'm pretty sure he gained something else with it,  hopefully that will be some more respect from the fans and the UFC. I think with his performance he earned another fight with a top MW right away, and I hope we can see a Silva vs. Bisping fight eventually.

Bisping really should have nothing to be ashamed about. If you really think about it the roles were reversed. Bisping lost but his stock went way up. Sonnen won but not convincingly at all, his stock just took a nose dive.

I think Bisping will fight for a title very soon anyways. And when the time comes I think he will win it.

Although disappointed for Mike I think this fight has done a lot to stop all of the detractors from calling out his skills.

In my opinion though if someone wants the fight on the ground and scores from getting a takedown, the same score should be awarded to a grounded fighter that gets back up onto his feet.

I think we've all reached a similar conclusion, even if some of us disagree with the decision. Personally, after watching the fight a few more times I'd score it 29-29, with a 10-10 first round, a 10-9 Bisping second, and a 10-9 Sonnen third, but it wasn't a robbery either way.

Bisping's stock certainly went way up with this performance, and that's the biggest story coming out of the fight.

Contrary to what many are saying, Sonnen's stock didn't go down in my book just because he failed to dominate a heavy underdog. IMO, this was more a case of Bisping being much improved than Sonnen having a poor performance. I think Sonnen is just as good as he has been over the last three years, but Bisping is looking better than ever and I fully expect him to challenge for the title by the end of the year or early next year.

Sonnen is a clown. He was acting like he won by knockout or something. His persona is just weak and tiresome by now.
