Prediction Comments
Predictions: 3 of 10 Winners, 1 Perfect, 230 Points | Tied for 348th
Azamat Bekoev, TKO, R3
I was very high on Fernando going into dwcs and he looked terrible. He had lost the fight before it began when he decided to wrestle. Obviously a smart gameplan but the fact he didn’t want to strike with Cesinha despite a hugh reach and speed advantage is concerning to me. That means he doesn’t fully trust in his abilities. Because he’s not a wrestler, Fernando kept making mistakes which resulted in a headbutt that compromised him. From that, he gassed out and just completely fell apart. At his best, he is scary. Fernando knows how to use that reach well and melts people with his boxing. Bekoev is a Russian but he is fraudulent. His fight with Budka was terrible and i honestly thought he lost that fight
Kuziutina vs. Canuto
Giovanna Canuto, SUB, R4
This is such a good fight. Kuziutina is a very unique prospect. She is an elite level judoka & has translated that very well to mma. She has been training at ATT and her grappling has looked insanely dominant thus far. The Kline fight did expose a lot of holes, but Kline is also an elite grappler & a very high level fighter in her own right. In that fight we saw that kuziuntina has no striking (Gigi doesn’t really either so it’s ok) and her cardio wasn’t great once she faced resistance. When she got tired her takedowns because very labored. When she is allowed to do her thing, she is very dominant. She has incredible physical strength and her judo throws are nasty. Her speciality is armbars & she will pull them out of the craziest positions. Gigi is a stud, she is very young but has been dominant in bjj before transitioning to mma. She has yet to really be tested but the skill level is pretty clear in her fights. She is taking girls down and murdering them on the mat. I wouldn’t be shocked if we see an upset here, but I think Gigi’s grappling is too good and she’s gonna catch kuziutina in something
Tavarres vs. Ramirez
Aireon Tavarres, TKO, R1
Another strange one to call. I absolutely hated Ramirez’s tape when he was gonna fight for dwcs & he got embarrassed. Of course, his opponent is one of the best fighters from that season but it doesn’t change the fact Ramirez is terrible. His striking is super sloppy and he really doesn’t hit that hard. His wrestling is pretty trash nor does he use it a ton. I’m not sure going down a weight class will help him either, he’s already turning around pretty quick after a beatdown and now has to cut more weight. This other guy have never heard of but he seems good. Clearly someone knows something if he drew a dwcs vet as an opponent
Shields vs. Leyva
Sarek Shields, SUB, R2
This is a tough one to call. I was very high on leyva but his last fight was just pathetic. The loss itself isn’t even bad but leyva looked like it was his first ever fight; his striking looked amateurish, he didn’t think to wrestle once, and he pretty much gave up the second he got hit. It’s weird because allegedly he’s a Greco Olympian but he never uses it. It’s also important to note Greco is kind of **** for mma (probably why leyva never uses it). His striking looked good in other fights so I am baffled as to why it looked so bad last time. Tbf brown is a tricky striker but not the type of guy to style on you like that. I did see leyva has been training day in and day out with the top middleweights/lhw at XC, so maybe we see some improvements. However, I just can’t get that last fight out of my head. Sheilds on the other hand is a terrible striker but a really good grappler. If leyva tries to shoot I think sheilds will lock up a guilly. I know leyva is likely gonna prove me wrong but I can’t pick him after last fight
Harris vs. Pagaoa
Aupuni Pagaoa, TKO, R3
I didn’t get the puni hype at first but this dudes hands are so clean. He is a very good boxer and has crazy power for the weight class. He doesn’t appear to be one of those fraudulent Hawaiians (looking at you puna) so that’s good. I imagine a few more wins and he is on dwcs next year
Oiyemhonlan vs. Miller
Trent Miller, TKO, R1
This will be a good test for miller. Hes clearly the A side being as he trains at XC but he has only fought cans. He is crushing them but hasn’t been tested. This other guy seems pretty bad but he has a huge frame and we saw in his last fight that length can sneak up on you if you aren’t careful. I’m going with the A side here
Hauser vs. Penha
Eduardo Penha, SUB, R2
Penha is very interesting to me. His dad is grappling legend Sergio Penha & Eduardo has translated that skill to mma. He hasn’t fought many people who can test him yet, but his grappling looks incredible thus far. That kimura he hit using his legs in his debut was so crafty
Jones vs. Barzilay
Tyler Jones, DEC
Not sure how to feel about Barzilay yet
Jones vs. Shapiro
Shane Shapiro, SUB, R1
Will be interesting to see how Shapiro looks. Hes been training mma for a while but hasn’t really been active. He is the grappling coach at syndicate & we saw with his appearances on the fight pass invitationals, that his bjj is pretty good. He beat two very solid ufc fighters with ease. Of course, this is mma and not grappling so he could be a can but I think he should cruise here

1 thing too, Kline did look pretty damn huge compared to Kuziutina in that fight. When Kuziutina wasn't strong enough to overpower Kline with her Judo she was a sitting duck.
(And Kline's now fighting at 125.)

Azamat Bekoev, TKO, R3
Fernando isn't bad, but damn I question his decisions in that last fight. He attempted to grapple when the fight had got too deep and he had nothing left to be effective. with that said, he did okay standing with Almeida so he's live for a KO
Kuziutina vs. Canuto
Giovanna Canuto, DEC
This is an interesting fight for Canuto, honestly might switch picks throughout tomorrow and Friday.
Oiyemhonlan vs. Miller
Oseyiomon Oiyemhonlan, TKO, R2
