I dont have a problem with how he handled the situation. He obviously didnt go full out on the kid. More stupid kids need to be taught a lesson.

Talking to girls on FB is normal behavior. Lying to your dad is.. normal behavior. Demanding a boxing match in the basement of your own home as punishment.. idk...

Its not the right thing in every situation, but there are definitely situations where i think it would be good for all the stupid ridiculous kids out there that are under the crazy assumption that there are no repercussions for their actions.

two thumbs down and no one says why they dont agree? Abuse isnt a good thing by any means but making sure a person knows they cant go out and do whatever they want, while teaching them how to defend themselves is probably a good thing.

Maybe our definitions of "stupid, ridiculous kids" and "repercussions" that fit the "crime" so to speak are a tad different @Pierce.
However, as a father, i can not see any circumstance where I demand my son fight me as punishment for anything. Teaching violence breeds violence imo. This was a tad different then a spank on the behind.

I was one of the guys who back when Houston debuted, thought he was going to be "the next big thing" in the light heavyweight division. He looked great in his first few UFC fights!
We all know how his UFC career ended up, and his post-UFC career hasn't been so good, either.
With that being said, at least Houston got a win in :-x

But a spank on the behind for a little kid that doesnt understand makes sense. Spanking a 16 year old is just silly if it does anything it pisses them off. @kalibo i would never even consider telling you how to raise your kids, but i can tell you in my experience dealing with other peoples kids, a lot of them would do well to get a good smack once in awhile and putting them in a situation that WILL humble them is a good thing. If that is a boxing match with a father that is a pro fighter cool, if thats a throw a bunch of weight on a barbell and mock the kid when he cant lift it if its a bodybuilder dad or countless other potential situations.

I was just comparing "acceptable" physical punishment to "illegal" when I mentioned spanks... obviously you don't spank a 16 year old. There are so many other ways to raise/mold/punish your kids then to beat them up. I'll just leave it at that.. it is just my opinion.

I know Alexander's choice of disipline is not what most of us would concider acceptable, but how are we to know this is not the first time this has happened in his household. It is easy for us to all judge someone when we do not know how things go down in their lives. For all we know his son is not only disrespecting his father by lying to him but this kid could have been down right disgusting and disrespectful to these "women" on facebook. I am not condoning his actions but i will not be so quick to judge him. Back in the day if you were caught lying to your parents about smoking some were forced to sit down and smoke until they puked, to me that is a form of child abuse, yet was totally acceptable in the past. Kids like this are sent to bootcamps where parents pay for their children to be abused and mistreated on a daily basis and this to people is okay. Its still child abuse with the stigma of dont ask dont tell. Just remeber no one is perfect and we all make mistakes thankfully we are not all famous and have our lives and troubles broadcasted for all to see.
