Prediction: wrong Machida   wrong Decision  

I agree that the scoring system is far too ambiguous. In fact, I think that any system that asks a judge to determine a round or fight winner our right is too ambiguous. I also think it is wrong to try to define and compartmentalize different techniques and styles used for fighting (striking, grappling, submissions) into judging criteria. Instead, the judges should be looking at the results of a round and breaking down the effects the fighters had on one another.

This is what the RAMMA systems is designed to facilitate. By giving scores on Damage, Danger, and Control at the end of each round, the character of the rounds are appropriately taken into consideration and given their due weight. Rounds with little action don't garner the fighters many points, while domination by one competitor will give him a significant advantage when the scores are tallied.
