hard to know what kind of quinton jackson will show up for this fight.  his last training camp for rashad was basically him just losing weight and getting in shape.   if rampage STAYED in shape between then and now, and has been fine-tuning and working hard to get sharp, he can be trouble for anyone.   machida has never had to come back from being KO'd before, either.  interesting fight.

I like Rampage but this is a great match-up style wise that gives Machida the advantage. Perfect opportunity to counter punch if Rampage comes of too aggressive.

if the "machida era" machida shows up, rampage will be in trouble.  he's not gonna put together a gameplan like shogun was able to, and machida will be able to pick his shots and pick him apart.

bad matchup for quinton.  he likes a guy who will stand in front of him and bang and lyoto's obviously not going to do that.  ground advantage is lyoto too but that's not likely to come up too much.  rampage hasn't looked for takedowns for a number of fights now and he doesn't really have an outside double leg.  i think jackson's gonna get picked apart and eventually hurt bad.

If Rampage can't finish'em quick Lyoto will get the match by decision.

@yo_mommas_ass

Basically agree. Though if Machida goes to the body on Rampage I could see him getting a late stoppage.

RAMPAGE will be back! Getting KO'd not easy to come back from - Rampage knows this 1st hand from Wanderle Silva. Machida will be scared to be KO'd again, Rampage will get the win.

Machida is too confident in "Machida Karate" to change anything. All Jackson has to do is intelligently push forward until he connects.

I have to give this one to Machida.  Rampage has really looked flat his last couple of fights.

jackson's gonna come in in shape and catch him. lyoto's gonna dominate, then make one mistake and it will be all over.

If history is any indication, coming off your first loss by *true* knockout is tough, and you're often not the same fighter for the next few fights. On that basis I'll go with Rampage to catch Lyoto and make it two in a row.

Out scoring with superior footwork/angle and unorthodox striking.

Why does everybody think jackson is going to knock machida out?. Just because he just got knocked out for the first time in his career Machida is obviously the better fighter

I admit I'm taking kind of a winger on this one.  I think the oddsmakers have it set more or less correctly.  I'm just saying, think of the guys who have tried to come back from getting knocked unconcious -- Wandy in his first couple fights after getting KTFOd by Crocop; Rampage in his first couple bouts after the second loss to Wandy.  When there's a *true* knockout and the guy is out cold, it can take a number of fights to recover from it.

Jackson usually clips people at some point in the fight -- it's rare a whole fight goes by where he doesn't connect solidly.  So I'll go with the upset.  There's my reasoning.  It's based more on timing and the nature of the matchup than who is the more skilled martial artist.

Jackson can win. If he has a good gameplan and training camp, he might be able to follow a similar blueprint to what Shogun did. And Rampage is very effective at closing the distance and getting inside.

Prediction: wrong Machida   wrong Submission   wrong Round 2

Machida's speed, movement, and especially leg kicks will keep Jackson at a distance during stand up. BJJ will be Machida's tool on the ground to sub Jackson no later than the second. Jackson's will should break by then.
