Yeah true just so dissapointing and sad to see. He wanted to be active this year but his streak of bad luck continues. He’s 37 now and probably gonna be 38 by the time he fights next which sucks to see. I know lots of people hate on him but I think he was a dark horse at 145. Looks like we’ll never see if that’s true or not; depends how the rest of his career plays out

this is still consistent with his UFC schedule of only fighting once every 1-2 years. he could've made something of himself if he only bothered to remain active since so many people were interested to see how his style would work. only things we've seen from him is he can beat up people past their primes.

More Strawweights is good, that division is clearly one of, if not the best female division in MMA. when it was introduced it was ******* garbage, but over the years that weight class has become one of my favorites to actually watch, they have even reached a point where unranked prospects are putting on fun fights, it's not some weird sloppy and stiff stand up battle followed by awkward clinching and headlock takedowns.
but I will protest new 135 and 145 signings. 145 is essentially non-existent, and 135 is in a very weird place where it seems all the potential newcomers get shut down before they earn a title shot, and there are fighters like Holly Holm who are always somehow on the brink of a goddamn title shot.

Well Ailin perez is not fighting at 145, just fighting a featherweight going to 135 (lol so much for that divison). 145 is dead and should never have more fighters added to it; it’s just a waste of a division. Will 100% be scrapped once nunes retires. I don’t think it’s the worst idea to add to the 135 division considering the top contenders are all over 34. It may be weak but it’s not like they’re gonna just scrap it once nunes is gone. That division will always be bad but it won’t hurt to add new fighters. Pudilova being re signed was a nice addition; it think she’s improved a lot since her ufc departure; no idea if she’s gonna be good or not (my guess is won’t break into the top 15) but at least she’s there. Ailin perez and Tainara Lisboa have can crushed but they’re finishers so that’s exciting. Lisboa really intrigues me because she’s a high level striker who actually has a ground game that she’s constantly improving. Again, don’t know the ceiling of any of the 135 signings but basically the tl:dr is 135 isn’t going anywhere so may as well add more fighters to it considering the top contenders are all ancient

My theory is that if Peña beats Nunes again then Nunes may retire so they can shut down 145. If Nunes wins then she could still be close to retirement anyway plus if they close 145 she still has a belt.

Ya. Imo they should trade all their 145ers to Bellator in exchange for a good fighter. I seriously, seriously doubt Dana would do business with Bellator but hey, if they did it with ONE, why not right?

If Pena can make 125 and Nunes and Holm retire I'd get rid of both 135 and 145. The divisions are crazy shallow and these new prospects are kinda interesting but don't move the needle. The fights at 135 have been mediocre for some time.

I’m biased cuz prospects is my favorite part of mma but ya None of them look like contenders whatsoever🤣🤣at least lisboa has a good skillset and extensive combat sports experience and chandler is probably the best 145 prospect, but, I agree, they’re never gonna be ranked imo (could totally be wrong). The only 135er I find interesting is josiane nunes; she’s the size of an atomweight but has the most ridiculous ko power🤣🤣

There are a couple of reasons I want the UFC to sign Lucero Acosta from Combate Global. :)
Thank you, and good night.

I keep track of good prospects too so I know how you feel. Imo the division needs a rejuvenation. Most of the top of the division are leftovers from Ronda and Mieshas time. It just hasn't actually moved in years. If they get enough 135ers maybe they can push some of the old dogs out.

Lisboa looks the most promising out of the signings (confidently saying this over pudilova being resigned) just off her combat experience but I need to see her fight someone with a pulse first. I do really like that she’s working on implementing grappling into her game tho; shows she’s taking mma very seriously

Also if Chelsea chandler goes down to 135 she could actually be pretty solid. Already has a very solid resume and trains at tiger Muay Thai and Cesar gracie bjj under nick and Nate diaz
