Russian invasion of Ukraine thread.

I'll post what's happening as it comes through for purposes of posterity. Doubt the veracity of what is posted here. Having lived through the Iraq war, I am sure that the vast majority of what gets reported will turn out to be either misinformation or outright ********. Posting because a lot of non-Australia members will be asleep, now. I'll report as much as I can.

So far the g****vine is:

Russia has indeed embarked on a full scale invasion of Ukraine. Air attacks, and ground forces. There has been at least one missile strike, there have been front-line Ukranian casualities ( have seen video, cannot post it here, too graphic).

Belarus has thrown in with Russia/is issuing support.
Reports of Ukrainian air defence having shot down multiple Russian planes, either drones or fighters.

I feel so mixed about Reddit's role in all this. One one side, if it helps to spread videos and pictures of the war without putting anyone in danger or helps to organise USEFUL relief efforts then I'm all for it but overall, it seems to spread a VERY bias narrative of what's going on in terms of who's "winning" this thing. The worst part is that a post can go viral with little to no fact checking. This is the sort of news story that needs dedicated journalists doing the thankless job of sorting the truth from the propaganda before anything significant is reported and that certainly doesn't seem to be happening on Reddit for the most part. 

All reddit has achieved thus far is to funnel deluded weebs as cannon fodder into the corrupt Ukrainian regime's death rattle where they are dying like flies at the end of summer. That, and Reddit posts have gotten countless Ukrainian positions away and gotten countless soldiers killed.
