Jake Paul is such a clown. Dude thinks he beat Canelo cause he watched it on TV.

It's a landmine of bad boxing takes right now, and not even from online strangers I've read some baffling opinions from all sorts of sports media since the Canelo vs Bivol fight.

Casual, nice post about Johnny Tapia! An absolute legend!!!! Top 10 Flyweight fighter all time.
Also, Beterbiev smashes Canelo to pieces, and Bivol!!! Beterbiev smashes EVERYONE and EVERYTHING!!!!!

Stephen, I like your comment about Canelo " better to have respectable losses on your record than an 0 surrounded by questions".  If only everyone in the fight game thought and acted like that(I put the blame more on promoters than the fighters)

Matchmaker

If I had a magic wand and wss allowed to put together the fights I want to see after the weekends results.

Canelo vs. GGG 3 -  I think the time is now for the trilogy, basically because it's now or never!!  Although past its best I still think it's close to a 50/50 fight. I think talks of GGGs demise are premature.

Bivol vs the winner of June 18th Beterbiev vs Smith unification. The winner of Beterbiev Smith(obvs Beterbiev) becomes WBC, IBF and WBO champion. Making the Bivol fight for the Undisputed Light Heavyweight Champion
And what a fight it would be, Bivol Beterbiev is top 5, probably 3, best fights in boxing.

The others!!!

Charlo, Benavidez, Andrade, are all undefeated World Champions who have spent the last few years beating +1500 "contenders", constantly calling out Canelo claiming they are the man.
Guys fight someone with a ****** pulse then!!!! Actually, fight each other.

Charlo vs. Andrade, Charlo vs Benavidez both work for me. I prefer Charlo vs Andrade  because I would like to make Benavidez vs. Plant. It has a lot of bad blood behind it and both are at the top of 168 behind Canelo. So that's the fight I'd prefer.
Another guy I could add to the mix is Chris Eubank Jr. He was actually being lined up for Charlo before the pandemic started so make that.  All these undefeated guys need to be paired off in a round Robin.

Any thoughts or suggestions??

Your probably right Mikey. Canelo wasn't liking the pop Bivol's punches had and it's not like he's a crazy power puncher in his division, Beterbiev is. I still want to huff my copium though. I think Bivol can keep it an outside fight and win there. I like that match up a lot, hope it gets made after the Smith-Beterbiev fight.

I said earlier I still think Canelo-GGG 3 is a fine bounce back fight to make. I don't want to see Canelo vs Bivol 2. Benevidez vs Plant is also a perfect fight. Andarde has sabotaged his career and now that he's vacating his belt there's going to be even less hype behind him. Sad but him & Zurdo desperately need new managers.

If I'm being honest about Beterbiev vs Bivol I would say it's a 50/50 fight. That's why I want to see it so much!!!
I'm more of a fan of the Beterbiev style, although I appreciate a technically supreme boxer, I prefer a pressure boxer puncher. That's why I like Benavidez so much too.

I actually forgot about Zurdo, that illustrates your point!!! 43-0, long time 168lbs Champion, exciting KO style fighter and hardly nobody knows who he is! He's actually fighting this weekend and no one is going to watch because Charlo Castano is happening at the same time.  But Zurdo is actually someone who I think has a shot at 175lbs, not picking him to win! But I would like to see Bivol s Zurdo.
Actually Zurdo fight at the weekend is for the no. 1 WBA contender spot(whatever that's really worth!) So technically, if he wins, he will be in line to face Bivol next

That probably is the most exciting match up. Both have a claim for being p4p fighters and you rarely see that in the Light Heavyweight division.

Yeah Zurdo's career stalling is a massive shame, and honestly kind of crazy when you consider he's a Mexican and the first Super-Middleweight Mexican Champ. There should be so much hype and following behind, but Goldenboy completely dropped the ball. I'd like Bivol vs Zurdo, grudge match to avenge his fellow countrymen.

Maybe i don't know how P4P works but to me it makes sense if you move above someone after beating them

Damn, Canelo down to sixth? Lowest I'd put him is fourth. He's still the unified super middleweight champ. Im personally keeping him above Crawford and Spence until they fight each other (whoever wins that is the new number 2 imo). Is this a bad take from me?

There really isn't a bad take when it comes to these things, but I think if Bud beats Spence and becomes a two time undisputed Champion and the undisputed Champion of the most prestigious division, Welterweight, than you have to make him the p4p #1.

A lot of people say nicknames are corny and outdated but I love them personally, especially love ones that easily overtake someone's actual first name; "Tank" Davis, "Canelo" Alvarez, "Fighting" Harada, etc. It's just a single word yet creates such a distinguishable person when applied correctly. People might get confused when you're discussing Davis the boxer but no one get's confused when you say Tank the boxer.

There's also something cool about seeing nicknames passed down like all of Witherspoon family having "Terrible", or from "Sugar" Ray Robinson to "Sugar" Ray Leonard, than "Sugar" Shane Mosley to finally "Suga" Sean O'Malley. Another great, but sadly less frequently seen, is when Boxers add their hometown or city into their nicknames; "Motor City Cobra", "Easton Assassin", "Leeds Warrior", etc.

Out of all the great nicknames however my personal favourite is by far Ghana journyman Ishmael Tetteh's, or should I say black Roy Jones jr.

Juan Francisco Estrada vs Joshua Franco is set for July 16th. Going to be a pure Mexican banger.

Rungvissai vs Bam
Ioka vs Nietes
and now Estrada vs Franco

Super-Flyweight continues to be the best division in the sport.

Nice Fights!!!

I am definitely an enjoyer of the Super Flys!!!!

Early picks, I think Estrada will have too much for Franco.  I really hope Ioka can get the win over Nietes(I believe he won the 1st fight)
As for Bam vs Rungvisai, Man I don't know???  Bam is for sure 1 of the very best of the next generation but Rungvisai is still a DOG!!!  This could be too much. too soon.  I know Bam had a great win over Cuadras(who beat Rungvisai) But todays Cuadras and todays Rungvisai, I'm picking Pungvisai by stoppage.  So I don't know with that one/

All I do know is I want to see Ioka vs Chocolatito!!!!!  ASAP!

I doubted Bam early, thought Cuadras was going to be too much of a vet and spoil Bam's night. Didn't happen! The way Gracia talks about Bam though is insane, says he's the best talent he's ever seen. I'm gonna hop on the hype train till Bam takes the one fight he shouldn't take(Chocolatitio).

I agree with Ioka & Estrada. I'm interested to see if Estrada calls out Chocolatito after the fight or if he'll be invited at ringside to watch.
