Despite having a belt and a sledgehammer looking at his expression, he doesn't seem confident. Definitely insecure. In his defence it could be a an ill-advised PR shot dreamt up by his coach or someone.

I was surprised he lost but I don't really blame him for tapping, that looked like it was in deep! I think once he realised he couldn't get out of it, he thought he may as well tap. I've always seen tapping out as more of a way of saying "oh, OK, you got me good, well done!" rather than begging for mercy. I get why it's seen as "tough" or "manly" to go to sleep but if I was in a situation like that and I knew I was beaten, I'd rather have the highlight reel being of me tapping out rather than of my unconscious body lying on the canvas.
