Whatever this thing is, it isn't a sport. These people are not athletes. They're morbidly obese. I can't even imagine how much food a Japanese person has to eat to turn themselves into a sumo-tier landwhale.
I have never seen a fat Japanese person outside of Sumo.

Rikishi are way more athletic than you'll ever be and they train 10x times harder than you. I bet you wouldn't last a week training in a sumo stable.

LOL give me a break Kiddo. Those piebeasts couldn't run down a 4 year old. Don't know how to throw a punch, a kick. Can't Grapple. They're not fighters. They're not athletes. They're not even strongmen. Wouldn't win an arm wrestling competition.
Why don't you start following some actual, real competition? Why not watch Greco instead?

I would like to see some sumo vs strongman superfights. I think the sumos would smash them maybe get them down and grind out a win, maybe even bludgeon them with ground and pound... The strongmen will likely wing power punchs but not much else... Neither are long distance stamina people so it could be exhausting to watch... Sumo is like big mans nogi judo mixed with greco roman/freestyle, but with less room for error and it goes back 100s of years or is it 1000s?... Its more of a sport than many other sports in my mind, golf and horse riding being obvious ones
I guess the weight gaining is part of the tradition, but for sure its not healthy, I think they should be respected even more for that, they sacrifice their bodies and health for the tradition and sport
