Quick reminder that ****les thinks rikishi are unathletic.

Cranky much? Its true that the sumo community outside of Japan is pretty small. That's why I'm trying to grow it here. I think MMA and sumo have a lot of overlap so its a perfect new sport to pick up for combat sports fans.

Yes I'm trying to grow the sumo community I think its a misunderstood sport that a lot of people would enjoy if they tried it out. I don't get the confusion.

I have a sneaking suspicion that you dislike me more than you dislike sumo... Oh well, I'm not here to be your enemy. You might not have noticed that I shared your wrestling thread here.

Ok maybe not "a lot." But there are lot of Judo throws or leg sweeps I could definitely see someone pulling off in a MMA fight. I am not a grappling expert so you can take my words with a grain of salt.

No problem. This thread is always here if you wanna watch some sumo.

We've got a football thread that nobody is complaining about and sumo is definitely more similar to MMA than football is. 

As for the whole sumo techniques in MMA thing, you've got Tsuyoshi Sudario who's 5-1 in MMA with all his fights being in RIZIN but I'd have to go and rematch them to see if he actually incorporates sumo techniques into MMA but from my memory, he seemed to rely on his freakish punching power more than anything.

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll certainly check out some of his fights!

As I'm getting more into soccer/football I realized sumo basically uses a relegation system except you aren't guaranteed to get "regulated" if you have the worst record. Makuuchi is basically the premier league, Juryo is the EFL Championship League, Maku****a is League One, ect.

It's Football !

Also on Sumo will be much better if they had a few weight classes (2 or 3) or upper weight limit, and the athletes looked more like an athlete, like the Czech wrestler !

I kinda got that there was a promotion/relegation system in the sumo ranks but if having worst record doesn't necessarily mean you get relegated then what is the criteria for relegation? I thought it was based on recent records. 

Basically if you keep stacking up Make Koshi (losing records) you'll go further down the banzuke until you finally get demoted to the lower rank. Yokozuna can't be demoted but usually they retire if they start losing a ton.
