I've got a crazy proposition.... just watch both.

Folkstyle's cool. African Folkstyle Juan Espino used to compete in had similar garbs to Sumo, or at least the generic band some sumo wrestlers wear. 

Did you tune into day one? There were a couple fun matches in there.

****les made a thread for Greco, Freestyle, and Folkstyle wrestling. If your interesting in that too I'd recommend checking this thread out. Personally I won't be on there much because I don't really watch those sports but I figured I'd share the thread here anyways for anybody who's interested in grappling in general.  

I'd rather watch fat Asians slapping each other with the occasional head butt personally. Also Cheese I was watching highlights of Hakuho, has anyone ever thrown Hakuho when they stall or don't have momentum? It looks impossible. 

Not sure, I only ever watched one basho with a fully healthy Hakuho. Dude wasn't even close to his prime yet he completely dominated everyone including a 14-0 Terunofuji.

My first basho was January 2021 btw. 

It's actually kind of ridiculous how strong he is mixed in with his amazing balance and ability to shift his weight around so easily. Such a shame I ever saw him live maybe once. 

Here's Hakuho's record against other rikishi. The only rikishi who's faced him more than two times and has a winning record against him is the 68th yokozuna Asashoryu (Hoshoryu's uncle.) He has a 15-14 record against Hakuho and 25 top division championships. Also he was the first rikishi to win all six basho in a year (2005) along with being to first rikishi to win seven consecutive championships. 

I saw Don Don had a compilation of all their matches against each other, but I never knew Asashoryu actually got the better of him. Sucks how many great rivalries between some of the greatest modern Sumo Wrestlers I've never seen. Just watched Takanohana vs Akebono not too long ago. 

The only thing I wish to change about sumo is that I wished they'd introduce weight classes. They can still have it how it is now with the regular open weight Bashos but they could also have other bashos with weight classes. I'm fairly nimble and good at planting my feet and my grip is fairly decent so I recon I would be an alright sumo wrestler if I were fighting someone my own size. It would also be interesting to see regular, normal sized people fighting against each other in the sumo ruleset.
