Maribu Stork Nightmare is mad AF! I hate to be 1 of those "well actually, the books much better than the film" but Trainspotting is a better book IMO.
The follow up, ****o, is decent too, thought they'd make Trainspotting 2 more like that.
But, yeah, Irvine Welsh was my favourite author back then. Haven't read anything by him since, not sure if he's even written anything else?

I'm from the East Coast, just a bit North, so I can pick it up easily. Also, being from a pretty ****** council estate myself I can relate to a lot of the characters and stories.
But I can imagine it's very hard to understand for a non Scots!
Most of the English speaking World have no idea what Scots are speaking about!!! Especially when we're drunk or angry! Which is a lot!!! Ha

I shouldn't throw too much **** at the Poms, they're OK depending on where they're from. My Sparky is a Pom and he's good value. Often up for a drink and a chat whenever he's done work here.
He's been here for 8 years now. I asked him if he ever goes back to London one time and he just said 'Nope. **** of an ole'.

UFC pay rant
And into fighter pay, for example , A 20-20 fighter who fights twice a year gets $80k assuming they win both fights, After tax and paying for other expense, They kept if they lucky 30k, Or about $576 a week, And for an pro athlete in the highest organization having to take 2nd jobs to not be in poverty is embarrassing, And that about 30% of the promotion in this problem, And when 30% of people in the top promotion have to be in this situation, Why the **** do you want to be a fighter? A normal job would pay you more, And you won't get brain damage and not have a 10 year window, The sport won't grow with this
Honestly, not even a 50-50 split is needed, a 25-75 split would really help the fighters, It be around 15-85 now, So a 50ish percent increase would really help the fighters not live in borderline povety without a second job, And the UFC is the premier promotion in UFC, You are a ******* ****** if you don't think the UFC can do that, The UFC overcharge the fans anyway, A $75 PPV, They can pay the fighter way more then they are paying them now, They no need to increase price, UFC could easlly run lossing 8ish% of money, UFC brand prints money, they won't even notice it, The UFC athlete should be able to live like pro athlete and not have to train after doing a 9-5 job , 5 day a week

But you're missing the point. I'm going to say this one more time, and slowly, so you really absorb it:
Nobody
is
forcing
anybody
to
sign
the
contracts.
Fighters are entering into business arrangements of their own free will and volition. It doesn't matter what you think they should be paid. What matters is that they willingly entered into legally binding contracts whereby the agreed to fight x amount of times for x amount of money and potential bonuses.
And that's that. That's the whole story. They were not trafficked. They were not extorted.
Buy the ticket, take the ******* ride.
End of.

And are you really sure about that?
Because that model hasn't exactly worked wonders in Boxing because people exercise agency. It's basic public choice theory.
If you pay a fighter squillions just to show up, why would you expect them to take risks? Why would they? If it were me and I was offered a 25 million dollar purse win lose or draw, I'd take the safest route possible even if it meant a greater chance of dropping the fight on points. Why the **** would I risk irreversible brain damage, my career or even death when I already have the money in the bank? All the money in the world can't buy back my life or a life lived stuttering and drooling into a cup needing round the clock care from care assistants. **** that. In fact taking risks in such a scenario would be absolutely ******** from a business/life choice perspective.
And that's why in Boxing the best rarely ever fight the best in their primes. It's simply good business. But it doesn't make for fights the fans want to see.
