"KOS"

17-11-0

Josh Koscheck
He beat some good guys one hw who was hiding at welter.
Got just millions of boos, never got that but people are sheep.
Had a really terrible end of his career losing bumfights.
But how good was he peak right before his embarrassing title shot?
Personally I always rooted for him but never ranked him above maybe 7th best, meaning he never should have had a title shot.

The best fighter that Koscheck defeated was Diego Sanchez whea Sanchez still had an unblemished MMA record.  I saw that fight live.

I have Koscheck at #20 Welterweight of all time and of course when Challenging GSP for the title,  I had him at ranked #2

I was at that fight.

What a fun event.

@joshjeffords

The fight I was referring to happened at UFC 69 at Toyota Center in Houston, Texas on April 7, 2007.  That was also the event where Matt Serra pulled off the massive upset of GSP.

This is one of the most brutal KOs (no pun intended)

I thought he killed him watching this live

Aside from that he was lucky to get a title shot against GSP, his mouth got him that deal for them to do TUF plus people were really high on his wrestling back then. I don't know where I'd rank him, but he was an elite fighter wrestling wise and developed a decent right hand.

Never beat anyone in their prime that was to great. .

That could be answered 2 different ways. At his Peak his was probably #2 in the world. Not good enough to beat GSP  But i think overall in the history of his division, hes probably hovering around top 10 of all time during his peak. Great Wrestler, Powerful hands, not too technical boxing, beat to death by GSP's jab

Remember when he faked getting hit with that illegal knee from Paul Daley?  Kos was one of the OG villains and has some good wins for that time in the UFC.  He knocked out Matt Hughes, beat Sanchez and Chris Lytle.

My take: he was sort of limited as a fighter, but in his prime he had great athleticism and fast reflexes. Combined with being a good wrestler and hard puncher.

Maybe that won't win you a championship, but it can get you past a lot of fighters, even today's crop of fighters.

Yeah for sure and he never recovered from that loss, he even became very gun shy.
I wont even watch his later fights its a whole other person.
Reminds me of Chael Sonnen of course he was caught cheating but he put a beating on Silva.
So bad Silva had to play Tito and almost tapped Steven Seagal :> in to save him.

In his absolute peak, I felt that he was at title challenger level. For most of his career though, I thought of him as a decent gatekeeper and a tough fight for most fighters at Welterweight. I hate to say it but in his later fights he was like a washed up journeyman.
