I like Aldo but he hasn't been the same Aldo we saw in the WEC.  Mendes is going to take this fight to the ground and keep it there.

he fought guys who really had to proof something, florian had his very last chance to get a title and he fought his ass of, almost the same with hominick infront of 55000 canadians and its not the case he knocked everybody out in the wec or before that, so he is supposed to win with his skill set. but i don't think he is supposed to knock every opponent out. @ crumx don't get the logic there.

Which skill set is that? His skill set is Muay Thai.  He finished everyone of his opponents in the WEC with the exception of Urijah Faber.  Kenny was definitely his toughest opponent, but when you're a black belt in BJJ, he should be able to put a gassed Florian in some submissions.  Florian was keeping up with him on the feet and it's not like Kenny racked up as much knockouts as Aldo did.

yeah you said it yourself, he was his toughest opponent, and the point is he won, just because youre good at muay thai or have a bjj black belt doesn't mean you have to finish every fight, you say florian was his toughest opponent yet but criticise aldo for not finishing? and also its normal that you get tougher opponents when your entering the ufc... i think aldo will beat mendes hopefully with an finish so everybody can be happy

Out of anybody that has ever faced Jose Aldo, Mendes has the best chance and tools to beat Aldo. However; Aldo is the champion, and the #3 p4p fighter in the world right now. Aldo has sick takedown defense, pinpoint accurate striking with deadly results, and the most brutal leg kicks at 145. I have to go with Aldo on this one. I actually wouldn't be surprised to see him pull off a submission victory from the bottom.

its in brazil. even if it gets to a decsion aldo will most likely get it. this is not chandler/alvarez. chandler was faster than eddie. mendes will not have any speed advantage here.

I'm already starting to flip flop on this. First I had Mendes, I've already changed it once, will probably do it again

Prediction: wrong Mendes   wrong Decision

I see it like this...They'll probably clinch up alot the first 2 1/2 rounds because Mendes will want the takedown, and when they're not clinched up they'll probably be sizing each other up with little offense and little damage, so the first 2 rounds could go to either fighter.  Then Aldo will get tired and start to give up TD's with Mendes winning the last 3 rounds.
And alright wolfman if you really want to lose your unbeaten record to me I'll be glad to make that bet ;)

Prediction: correct Aldo   wrong Submission   wrong Round 3

It's weird to say this but it seems Aldo is being underestimated for this fight. Mendes really only has one skill dangerous to Aldo and that's his wrestling. As long as Aldo doesn't get too reckless and is able to stuff a couple takedowns he should be able to take this one.
