Good People:

Moments ago, Tapology launched its latest site deployment, an awards system that lets you unlock achievements for site activities like accurate fight predictions, rankings building and posting to the forums.  There are dozens of different awards sitting out there for you to earn, and rather than tell you all about them here, you can go check them out directly on the awards page:

http://www.tapology.com/awards

You've probably already seen the first of these awards circulating through the system on the home page feed, and as more achievements are unlocked you will increasingly see them displayed on member profiles and on the feed.  The more of them you get, the more your profile will display.

We built this system for one reason: to feed your MMA addictions until we are all helpless junkies. Let us know any feedback you have, whether positive or negative. Also keep in mind that as with any new system there may be glitches along the way; if you see any puhhhleeeaase report them to us using the contact panels in the right sidebar so we can fix them and restore happiness to the kingdom.

Enjoy the new awards and thanks.

Bump to top.

There will be a lot of awards flying as everyone starts getting awards that they've already earned over the past few weeks.

You just need to "trigger" it. So maybe you only need 10 of something, but you've already done it 15 times.  The next time you do it, you'll trigger and get it.

Most of them yup.  Following WEC 53 a lot of people are probably going to get awards for all kinds of things.

BeastMaster:
Sorry, probably a little confusing. After each event, the site will count up all your picks and whatnot, and hand out any picking-related awards. The next event is WEC 53, so you can probably expect to get a few awards then.

yankees1:
Will get back to you on that.

Awesome! I've been hoping this was coming. I'm sort of a collector by nature, so this is one of the best ways to get me (more) addicted.

Yup we had initially hoped to have this bad boy ready when the site first opened, but we couldn't quite get it in there in time.

Hi all:

In answer to a number of questions, and after getting off the line with Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Sergey Brin, Tank Abbott and the rest of our technical team, we've determined the following about the retroactive effect of the new awards system:

Most of our *single prediction* and *single-event* based awards will NOT receive retroactive effect. Examples would be if you earned the single-highest event point total for an event two weeks ago, or picked 8 winners correctly at UFC 124 this past weekend, an award would not be triggered now because those achievements occurred before the awards system was implemented.

However, *multi-event* awards and *cumulative* awards WILL take into account your prior history here on Tapology. Examples would be that if you completed 9 rankings before the awards system was launched, and then created your 10th ranking today, it will correctly trigger an award for building 10 rankings. Similarly, awards for picking 50 total fight winners or creating 100 forum posts will correctly take into account the winning fight predictions and the forum posts you created before the awards system was put in place.

Lastly, if you have already met the threshold for a multi-event or cumulative award such as the ones I just mentioned and don't see them on your profile, it is because you will trigger them the next time you perform that same class of activity. So if you have picked 50 fight winners correctly already, and then you pick one or more correctly for the WEC event on Thursday, that new correct pick would trigger the award for 50 correct predictions that you are entitled to.

Let us know if this doesn't answer your questions.

Well crap. I guess I'll go ahead and claim my single event point leader award for Bellator 32: http://www.tapology.com/fightcenter/events/bellator-32/predictions-leaderboard Not sure I'll ever get that again.

That would be worth $2,000 in some dimension other than our own. Guess you'll just have to show all the n00bs what's up on January 1st.
