Anybody else watching?
I'm pumped, I am an MMA fan first, but I still love a good boxing match. I think Mayweather takes this one, late stoppage.

I know you're not saying it, so it's not against you, but I think that's crazy.  Every time the ref takes a point away from a fighter, he is stopping the action to do so.  The ref last night grabbed Ortiz by the wrist, and did the typical facing of each judge and holding up his index finger - "one point," "one point," etc.  Then he lets go of Ortiz and looks to the corner as if he was talking to somebody when Ortiz tried to embrace Floyd, and Floyd took advantage of the opportunity to land some cheap shots in retaliation.

The ref never put both fighters back in position to fight and said, "Fight" or anything to say that the action would continue right away.  I know Cortez knows his **** when it comes to reffing a boxing match, but I think he was wrong to say that.

Maybe he shouldn't be giving a "bro hug" to someone that isn't his "Bro".

@OneHit, you're right but that doesn't make what Floyd did right.

it was the ref's fault, both for the headbutt and the ko... I still don't like what Mayweather did, but the majority of the blame should be on the ref's shoulders

I didn't watch the fight, but the reason the ref counted Ortiz out is because it WAS A LEGAL PUNCH. This isn't Koscheck/Daley, people might not like it, but it was a legal punch.

I'm willing to bet that with all the bro hugging that goes on DURING mma fights, this will happen in mma one day.

It was only a legal punch because the referee screwed up and allowed it to be.  Technically, it was not a legal punch because you're not supposed to punch until the action continues.

I'm with ONE HIT QUIT.

Was it a **** move by Mayweather?  Yes.

However, the whole scenario started with Ortiz throwing a headbutt.

Ortiz failed again by trying to give a "bro hug" to Floyd, after headbutting him.  He's Floyd Mayweather...do you really think he gives a **** about your apology?

Then the ref failed the most, by not making sure both fighters were in the corners before addressing whoever he was addressing outside of the ring.

Really, I hate Mayweather as much as most people, but in my eyes, he was less in the wrong than Ortiz or the ref.

...and Larry Merchant just needs to retire already.

@alias actually I thought Larry Merchant was pretty awesome in that moment. Most of the time he's semi-incoherent, but that was classic.

"if i was 50 years younger id kick your ass!" that was great!!! best part of the whole thing really.  Ortiz was being a **** with the headbutt. Mayweather was a **** for the cheap punches.  Ref was just astoundingly bad.  Everyone is at fault here and larry ended it wonderfully!
