Anybody else watching?
I'm pumped, I am an MMA fan first, but I still love a good boxing match. I think Mayweather takes this one, late stoppage.

@beastmaster that's because a few seconds before was the illegal headbutt, and the ref had broken them up and was then motioning to officials outside.  the ref totally blew it, but it wasn't like was randomly looking away for no reason.

that sounds like something outta pro wrasslin. where the referee is putting a chair away and the bad guy pulls out brass knuckles while the ref is turned away and gets the pin.

I think this little nugget of controversy might be a blessing in disguise for the sport of boxing as a whole. While it might put a blemish on both fighters' credibility, there's no denying that a certain element of interest was added to the equation. And as per usual, I'm praying that someone will one day come along and knock Mayweather off of his high horse.

They should give Mayweather to Pacquaio and let him know what it feels like to get knocked out one-sidedly.

The ref was not even watching the fighters!!  He had no control over the fight!!  At that level the ref should be on top of everything!!

Mayweather even started to put his hands out like he knew that Ortiz was trying to embrace him in an apology.  Then he looked over at the ref, saw he wasn't looking, and clocked Ortiz twice.  That was completely intentional, and the fact that the referee had the nerve to count Ortiz out after that was ridiculous.  He should have stopped everything, and if Ortiz couldn't recover and fight, then it should have been declared a no contest, and a rematch should have been scheduled.

Also, the referee has people who help him with the count, and advisers to help him call things he may not have seen such as cuts caused by headbutts or punches.  I can't believe that none of these people spoke up to him when he started counting Ortiz out, to tell him that he hadn't continued the action yet, and Mayweather had caught Ortiz with two cheap shots.

If a rematch occurred, I see Mayweather knocking Ortiz out legitimately.  There was just no way that Ortiz was anywhere near good enough to take Mayweather out, and the fact that HBO tried to play it off like it was a good match-up was laughable.  The only fight that makes sense for Floyd right now is if he gets in the ring against Pacquiao.

According to Joe Cortez who reffed the fight there was no timeout or anything so it was still the middle of a professional fight that Ortiz decided to drop his hands...No problem with Mayweather ending the fight

@Soccer, how can he say that there was no time out?  He stopped the fight to take a point away from Ortiz for the headbutt.  That's a time out!  I never saw him resume action after that.
