First off id like to say that Chuck is my favorite fighter. I came to this website because websites like sherdog flame on people for who they like and dog them on what they have done in the sport. Havent seen too much of that here. So what im going to say is why doesnt the iceman get the probs he should? People say this and that about him being "overrated" and never fought a good striker and blah blah blah. But this man put the UFC as well as MMA on the map. He came to fight and he came to finish. Yea he went out on a low note but look how he fought and what he did. All title defenses were won by KO. The man was a BEAST yet people want to praise GSP as the greatest ever yet all he does is dry hump you for 25 min. I use to be a HUGE gsp fan now i am not. All im saying is in my honest opinion i believe that chuck liddell truely is the best FIGHTER that this sport has seen. I feel in his prime him and anderson..wow thats a fight. No one has been able to hold onto the belt for more then one defense since him. What do you guys think?

i agree on most points...chuck liddel IS TOP 5 best ever! i have a hard time putting anyone ahead of anderson silva tho...but the icemans influence as a crossover star (dude was in music videos, on game covers, doing talk shows...AND KNOCKING MO ****A OUT!!) is as impressive as his fighting ability....jon jones, gsp, and a silva are getting the endorsements now because chuck was first and didnt do anything dumb to scare away investors....like mayhem and diaz did to cbs....anyway, long story even longer, i love the iceman....

and ppl don't talk down to u here, unless ur a nick diaz fan such as i....lol

I remember hating on Chuck because I thought he would never freakin' lose that title. Now I really wish he was still holding it.

I think most people praise GSP as the greated WW to ever live, not the greatest fighter period.  Chuck was def one of the best LHW's to ever compete, but fighters and MMA techniques are evolving.. so I just don't like comparing fighters from different periods.. prime vs. prime.

the topic of greatest ever in each weight class is pretty easy as of now...

lw-penn
ww-gsp
mw-silva
lhw-chuck
hw-fedor

so...who gets GOAT?
i'd say silva

i would definatly say Chuck is LHW GOAT, the only argument is Wand was on top for a long time too,  Chuck beat Wand, Tito, Randy, Babalu, Belfort, all top guys at the time

i also think if he was training like he was for the Franklin fight his who career he wouldnt have lost to Jardine, Rashad and Shogun

i think chuck was one of the best of his time

as was tito and randy

but none of them really have the skills to keep up with the mma we know today

soo i would not say any of those 3 guys are not top 5 best ever top ten maybe but i would say there is more working against all of them about ranking them top ten then there is working for them.

such as randys overall record (and the fact that valentinjin guillotined him)

chuck not really faceing to many good strikers and how many times he got knocked out toward the end

and tito not winning a fight since 2006 until he beat bader

And that is why I hate talking about G.O.A.T.'S. It was either @Jeremy or @Skelliher that talked of "as of now" or something like that... that is kinda the point of view I share.

I agree but I would still Rank Chuck ahead of Randy, Tito, and Wand just because he beat them

I completely disagree with Chuck being the Greatest LHW of All Time by the way. He was winning in UFC when the best guys were in Pride. I like Chuck but he was being fed grapplers, which was perfect for him. I have Shogun, Wand and Henderson ranked above him by a lot.

I agree with you @Mino... not many people think like that.  Back in the "Chuck" era.. the best fighters were in PRIDE and Chuck lost.
