I'm a huge Makdessi fan, but this has got to be some of the strangest match-making I've seen. No. 3 at 155 vs. No. 43?? When Thomson and Masvidal were ready and willing.

This is at least equallly pointless matchmaking as Jacare/Camozzi II. Cerrone has nothing to gain in this fight and Makdessi is such an unimpressive opponent that it would sound weirder for Cerrone to get a shot off of beating him than beating Benson.

Josh Thomson doesn't deserve any of the "high profile" opponents he is asking for right now. He's on a two fight losing streak and just dropped one to Bobby Green. Makdessi isn't the best choice, but it's still better than Thomson seeing as how he is coming off of a win -- and a more impressive one at that.

Johnson and Ferguson were the best choices.

Not so fast with the "Cerrone vs RDA" talk yet. I think Cerrone gets past Makdessi, but with RDA injured I'm sure Cerrone will fight again before RDA's ready to defend.
