As much as I would like to see Hunt win, besides a first round bomb that lands in the firs, I don't see it happening.  Hunt has 3 weeks to cut who knows how much weight so that means he won't be coming in the best of shape.  Werdum will find a way to get this to the ground or just stretch it out past the 3rd round.  Hunt might be too gassed after the first or second round.

Hunt is weighing 300 pounds with 3 weeks to cut

Hasn't trained in a month

We all saw what happened when he fought in Denver at 5,280ft. Mexico City is 7,350 ft.

Werdum set up camp in MXC since a month ago preparing for Velasquez.

This won't be good, fun, nor brief for Hunt; he'll be Werdum's punching bag for 3 to 5 rounds.

I think Hunt cut from 287 during fight week when he fought Roy.  I wouldn't read too much into the weight.

The fight camp worries are legit.  Werdum has trained for five rounds three camps in a row.

It's good to see Hunt getting a shot at the interim belt. I see Werdum probably using his footwork to get a decision win here and avoiding the big shot like he did in the Nelson fight.

I really want Hunt to take it, but after hearing how big he gets, and considering that Mexico City is 2000 feet higher than Denver is (where Hunt and Rothwell had the worst UFC HW fight ever), I don't think he takes this.

He's got 5 min before his gas tank runs out, maybe, and after that, he's gonna be sucking wind.

I'm giving Mark Hunt a punchers chance. They way he uppercut Roy was beautiful! I'd honestly rather see hunt Vs Velasquez.

@yossgold

Yeah I realize JDS has a fight already, but I feel like he will still always be the #2 heavyweight, and having smashed both Hunt and Werdum I think he should still be in that spot to fight Cain again with a big win. I think he will get to that spot anyway regardless of who wins in Hunt/Werdum. I don't see any other heavyweights beating JDS other than Cain. Maybe JDS should have a few more fights before a 4th Cain fight but for the interim title I think it should involve JDS. Just my opinion.

Hunt does have a good shot at winning if he gives for the KO right away.

Mark Hunt drops his kids off at school? Somehow I see him saying "huh" or "eh" and his kids understanding it as "Have a good day" or "Get an A on your test."

Only other options were Stipe and AA and who knows if they'd be ready in 3 weeks. Might as well strike while the iron is hot on getting Hunt a title shot. My heart really wants Hunt to have the title but I know Werdum stands a much better chance against Cain.

After watching the countdown show I have even less faith that Hunt can pull it off ...

In order to win this he needs a flash KO very early in the fight, imo. I just don't think Werdum's the kinda guy who gets flash-KO'd ... he's smart (except for maybe when he's not expecting that kind of heat, like vs. JDS, but since that's already happened to him along with the facts that he's got way better since then, Hunt doesn't have JDS' hand speed and athleticism and he's totally expecting Hunt's power I'm guessing that ain't happening within the first 2.5 minutes).

Werdum has been training in the Mexican altitude, secluded there for two months already, focusing on cardio, losing weight and basically training for a 5 round war with cardio-freak Cain Velasquez while Hunt got there 21 days before the fight, 30 lbs overweight and this is a guy who already has suspect cardio.

I know Hunt stays dangerous even when tired, but that's only against guys up to a certain level (Bigfoot for instance) and also once the fight hits the ground with Hunt gassed I don't see him being able to defend a guy at Werdum's level for long, let alone get up.

Even on equal terms I think Werdum is better everywhere (his Muay Thai is highly underrated on account of his ground game getting so much attention) except maybe pure KO power and that his ground game a so much better I feel the fight will eventually end the minute it gets there for the first time, it all depends on when Werdum decides to go there. And that's on equal terms. I think this is the first time Werdum's shown that kind of dedication pre-fight (I'm guessing the fact that it was supposed to be vs. Cain at first had a lot to do with that) and is going to be in the best shape we've ever seen him in while as Hunt is going to be the usual tough Hunt but with less in his gas tank vs. a guy he just doesn't have the tools to stop once they stop striking.

Those are my 2 cents ... well, maybe more than 2 ;)

I think Werdum's new-found confidence in his striking game is going to cost him.

Mark Hunt becoming world champion might be the coolest ******* moment in MMA history. Here's to hoping that it happens.

Werdum dominates everywhere. Even on the feet so long he can weather any power punch early on.

Werdum's striking is getting a bit too much credit now. He's not really that technical, a lot of his success is just complete confidence and not worrying about getting taken down. He still leads with his face a lot throwing looping punches to get into the plum, not the best combo against Hunto. He's a lot how Wandy was minus the KO power.

I think Werdum would be best served to work body kicks early and try to get it to the ground as soon as possible to wear Hunt down.

More than likely Werdum by sub if he doesn't get too reckless on the feet but Hunto is more than capable of landing a big counter shot and putting him out.
