I'd love to pick Brown, but I think Lawler is too strong and athletic for him. Lawler is the worst matchup for everyone in the division, imo.

I'd favor Lawler in most circumstances but one thing to note is how active he's been. This fight will mean less than two months rest from the Ellenberger fight and ~4 months from the Hendricks fight. The Hendricks fight, as everyone knows, was a war. Although he won convincingly against Ellenberger, he did take a good bit of damage. If you saw his face in the post fight press conference, he looked a mess. So, I'd like to think Lawler's going to win but who knows if he's making a mistake by not being more patient.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure if he gets into the situations Silva and Mein put him in Lawler ain't letting him off the hook ... also, I think Brown beat Silva and Mein basically by just "man"-ing them up. Lawler doesn't get backed up and spooked by aggression like Mein, Silva and MacDonald (who lost to Robbie from the same reason, imo) do.

The best thing about this fight is one of them get a shot at the title ... worst thing is one of them doesn't :)

It's just one of those fights where I'm going to be happy for the winner getting a shot which I think will be a successful one. I'm pretty sure Robbie beats Hendricks next time around and though I don't see how Matt Brown beats him, I'd be happy to see him try and if he beats Robbie it'll convince me he's got a very good chance to.

This is why MMA, the UFC, and Joe Silva are awesome. Didn't take long and I've gotta think they listened to the fans although considering their own rankings and who was already booked, it was the obvious choice.

I'm maybe the biggest Immortal fan but I've been at least worried he'd lose every fight since the Swick fight. No gimmes. The Silva fight finally convinced me he's shored up his grappling weaknesses that cost him earlier in his career.

Lawler could win it early but the longer it goes I think the better Brown's chances are. Whoever wins is definitely deserving of the next title shot. Kudos to both guys for staying active. Can't wait.

Brown...I'm a fan of his, an underdog tale of the ages but he's so far over his head at this point, Lawler should beat him so bad he'll get arrested.
