I like both Hendo and DC, a lot. But I don't like this fight at all. Makes me nervous for Dan. I guess it is a step up from Calvacante for DC, and Hendo wants to stay active.

Hendo doesn't really get finished too often, and DC sometimes doesn't put it on guys too often going for the finish. I think he's worried about breaking his hand again.

So, I think DC wins in a dominate 3 round decision.

I'm going to assume this isn't an April fools joke, and give my two cents.  Hendo has absolutly nothing for Cormier, and the only chance he has is a punchers chance.  DC is to smart to just stand there and trade, after all, Hendo may be a dinosaur but he still has the chin of a T rex.  He got cought with many solid shots in his last fight but shogun couldn't put him away.  I see this going the way of Hector Lombard nd Jake shields, just a little slower paced and more Hendo being pushed up against the cage.

I don't think this is happening ... after his knockdowns in the Shogun fight Hendo may be looking at a hefty medical suspension, and the UFC don't usually book fights until they have a final medical clearance.

I'd wait 'till this dumb day is over before taking anything seriously.

EDIT:: Just remembered, UFC 175's in Vegas so Hendo will also need to cycle off TRT to fight there. According to Vitor's doctor it's 90 days only to get his body back to where it can train without TRT. Train. not fight. Even if Vitor's doctor was full of ****, there must still be some sort of grace period the body needs. The fight is in two months. With that and the fact that Hendo will probably not be cleared to have any contact for the next 20-30 days, I'd go out on a limb and say that either the MMA press all think they're funny as **** releasing these stories on April fools or the UFC are all s******ing like little school girls at their really "funny" jokes.

Or they're just dumb, because this matchup is stupid. Facing DC on such a quick turnaround without the juice is plain suicide for Hendo.

I think UFC went announcing stuff with out asking the fighters again. DC has suggested in the past that he would not be willing to fight Dan Henderson because Dan is his hero.

Also, I love how they bring up Hendo's wrestling time and again when he's too frickin' slow to use his wrestling anymore.

This is what's left of Hendo's wrestling

All he has is a giant right hand which only a couple of top fighter are slow enough to still get caught by. Shogun is one of them (and even he was schooling Hendo and only got caught because he got sloppy off a break). It's no coincidence that the last two fights Hendo's looked good in for a long time were both against Shogun. That's if you even call what he did in the second Shogun fight looking good. Did he really look good? Or do fans forget about him getting outclassed by a slow, unconditioned, over the hill Shogun with one punch?

Hendo's wrestling accolades should be banned from use in pre-fight breakdowns, just like Roy Nelson's jitz.

In fairness he'd been assaulted by Shogun in the first round before that weak ass shot. DC will wall and stall and use takedowns to win this fight easily.

I think Roy's jitz has more credibility than Hendo's wrestling. There's no instances of Roy falling on his ass while trying to pull guard into a guillotine.

And if that video does exist, it's probably the funniest thing ever.

I like this fight though. As if the UFC's telling DC that he can't just jump in the LHW rankings because he beat 2 top 15 HW and a barista.

I´m not sure this fight is real but if it is, Hendo will get mauled, maybe DC won´t finish him but he´ll still beat him up ala Cain vs JDS, Cormier is far more athletic than Shogun and at this point he has a better shin than Shogun too, Hendo won´t be able to keep up with Cormier, DC will keep it fast paced against the fence clinch going for TD´s and by the end of round 2 Hendo will want to quit, the best they can do for Hendo is make it a 3 round fight

@amp if your talking about Roy Nelson's Jitz then your mistaken 0.o  Nelsons bjj is acutally quite legit, albeit it hasn't tranfered over into mma, he's beaten "pre motorcycle accident" Frank Mir in no-gi grappling before.

This will probably be a 3 rounder. I can't see this fight headlining a PPV. Because of all the non-PPV events the UFC has put on, they really only reserve the PPV's for title fights. The last time the UFC had a non-title bout headlining was UFC 161 and that was a 3 rounder because they had to save the card after the Wineland/Barao fight got scrapped.

@Tnuggs. I was just responding to yoss's thing that Nelson's BJJ shouldn't be mentioned in the prefight analysis.

I definitely agree with you. He still has it in his arsenal. He loves that crucifix position and he's pretty good at getting it. Can't get that if you don't know how to grapple well.

@nuggs, I actually disagree ... I agree that, like Hendo, the talent and fundamentals are still there, but I think the physical attributes (Hendo's loss of explosiveness and Roy's big-ass gut) prevent them from using them these days, a fact that both mask well with nuclear right hands.

The last time Roy submitted anyone or even did anything close to BJJ was when his belly was a quarter of the size it is now (and I don't consider crucifying Kimbo an achievement in the grappling world). You may attribute that to him "not having to" because his standup is so good, but just the thought of Roy trying to mount any kind of offense off his back makes me laugh.

Even the Mir fight you mentioned, have you seen the vid of that? Roy was tiny compared to how he is now.

I'm pretty sure Roy can defend well on the ground and maybe attack from the top, but any kind of guard game seems just physically impossible. He lacks the flexibility and movement range to do anything off his back.

I admit I'm just assuming this, but seriously, he hasn't submitted nor come close to it anyone since 2006. The only reason I'm not 100% sure about what I'm saying is that in that time he's got so many KOs that you'd understand him not going to the ground even if he could.

I'll also concede that physical attributes preventing anything aren't always the case with Roy but that said, let's say he gets an armbar, can he even straighten the arm enough to get hyper-extension? Food for thought.

EDIT:: This is Roy in the Mir no-gi fight, look at that fine specimen of a man he was :)

oh I agree completly , his Bjj is useless in mma.  He doesn't train to use it offensivly and its more of a defensive tool at best.  If you look at Nelson now and back then he looks like he's been 9 months pregnant for almost 10 years.  as for the armbar thing, maybe hed use his gut instead of his hips to get leverage lol, idk but someone should experiment to find out the bjj abilities of his gut lol

The last time I remember Roy using his grappling skills was against Cro Cop, who has just enough BJJ skills to armbar a sumo wrestler and no more.

This will be DC vs. Joshu except twice as lopsided (and that fight was already a clean sweep of the cards for DC).  Barnett would maul 2014 Hendo and mauling is what DC did to the much larger, stronger, more agile than Hendo, Josh Barnett.  I haven't been impressed with what they're doing with DC.  Co-Main a $55 PPV against the debuting Tim Cummings?  Then Co-Main a $55 PPV against Hendo, who aside from Shogun twice, is 0-3 in the UFC since Strikeforce closed for business.  They should give DC a Top 10 LHW on a UFC on FOX card if they want fans clamoring for a Bones vs. DC match ever.
