ACB and Akhmat merge into one organization
What is the future of Chechen mixed martial arts after the merger of the two largest players?
Russia Today Sport journalist Denis Geiko said on his Twitter account that the two Chechen promotions ACB and Akhmat will soon be merged into one:
“According to my information, the ACB and Akhmat leagues will soon be merged into one MMA promotion.”
Alas, there are no other details of this deal.
The ACB league problems began in July. For reasons unknown to the general public, the organization began to have financial interruptions, and the organization canceled tournaments in London, Kazan and Cyprus.
In September, having gathered some strength, the promotion of Mairbek Khasiyev held the ACB 89 tournament in Krasnodar, entitled the lightweight title fight between the then champion Abdul-Aziz Abdulvabov and Ali Bagov. At the same time, ACB decided to take a desperate step by trying to sell the show on the PPV system ("pay and see"). The broadcast cost only 200 rubles, but even for such a price, only a couple of thousand fans bought it. Before the start of the tournament, the organizers recognized the idea as a failure, returned the money to buyers and showed the tournament for free.
Looks like it was agony. The ACB 90 tournament will take place in Moscow on November 10: Vakhaev vs. Bilaston, which, according to Geiko, will be a swan song of promotion. Perhaps a merger will be announced right during the show.
The terms of the transaction are currently unknown to anyone, and therefore we can only guess what the new organization will look like. Considering that the head of the Chechen Republic, Ramzan Kadyrov, controls the Akhmat league, it can be assumed that Akhmat will simply absorb the ACB, retaining the former name and leader and taking yesterday’s competitors under its wing. Probably, Mayrbek Khasiyev will be given the position of executive director (president), but not a fact.

Big fan of Khaliev myself but I mean...Bagov is the main instructor for Berkuts wrestling classes and helps out in the Akhmat gyms all the time. Hulk is juiced to the gills on top of it. imho Khaliev has a long night ahead of him.
Tumenov vs Abdulaev should end very violently. 1 of them is getting put to sleep.
Rakhman Dudaev vs Rustam Kerimov is my favorite and hardest to pick. Both of these guys could compete in the UFC right now easily and now they're matched up.
