A few months ago i posted on Sherdog that if Overeem came to the UFC he would get beat by JDS, Cain and Lesnar and everyone acted like i was rediculous for saying it,  I still think he wouldnt be top 3 in the UFC and was wondering what everyone on here thought

He was getting outstruck by Verdum at several points thoughout their fight if that answers your question.

Straight up striking, where he could open up without fear of the takedown he probably is. In MMA, it's pretty close.

@Skeet2b.. I agree Cain, Lesnar and JDS would beat him.. Mir would aswell..

I have to agree with Danno. I think he would out strike Cain and JDS and definitely Lesnar and Mir. The only reason Werdum out struck him was because he was terrified of a take down. I think Overeem v Cain/JDS would be a good fight and could either way. Lesnar would be more iffy its obvious Lesnar can't take a punch and Overeem hits hard. If Lesnar got it to the ground he would have a chance but I think he would get hit before he could get it down. Mir I don't think would stand a chance.

I am still totally not convinced with this guy.  Ive been watching him for a while and i just dont feel like his striking and fighting in general is all that.  I think that Cain and JDS could beat him but i dnt know about lesner.  Im kind of iffy with him too!

werdum should have stayed standing, he was picking the Reem apart. In a K-1 match id put overeem over anyone, but this is mma, and that brother has no ground game...

He's powerful, but too slow, I don't rate him at all, MMA wise.

Until they fight or jds goes and whups k1 overeem has the better striking. Period. The fight with werdum was an anomaly of sorts and i think it was because overeem trained majorly ground and takedown defence because those are werdums strengths, where as jds trained tons of striking to fight carwin.

i like Overeem, dont get me wrong, but i think the only reason he is so highly ranked is because hes not fighting top contenders, if he comes to the UFC i would like to see him start out with a guy like Kongo

I feel like he might be in the the top five but not a real contender! and if that head kick didnt finish him the punches that Hari would have landed since Reem was dazed would have!

@buakaw you might be right about the headkick and punches but i think it was stopped early and im sticking to that.  overeem will be a top contender for sure, just wait.

I think we will.  Imagine how awesome if the unthinkable (like when he knocked out badr hari) happened if he gets the boxing match he wants?  I wish he would just go full steam in mma personally tho.
