yeah overeem was good in K1 but i dont care i think JDS and his boxing could DESTROY overeem.

His boxing is extremely good. Yes some overrate it, but his boxing is clearly one of the best if not the best in MMA. (vitor is another who comes to mind).
Everyone leaves them self open while throwing hooks, also what do you constitute as open? JDS, does not block punches most of the time, he dodges them. I think u misunderstand leaving one open and using control movement. Simply because he does not keep his hands up, does not equate to poor defense, because he rarely gets hit. He utilizes movement instead of blocking punches, which is in many cases more difficult and better skill to have.

If you take JDS out of MMA and put him in a kickboxing ring against the likes of Overeem, then of course I'd put my money on Overeem winning the bout. However, in MMA with the threats of takedowns and submissions, I'd say that JDS has the advantage.

if we're just talking striking i don't think this is even close, you can't be a better striker than a k1 champion when you only throw punches. i think cain is a more complete striker, he has good boxing jds may have better but its not as much better as ppl make it out to be. and cain using leg kicks very well....if jds threw leg kicks and just kicks period on a regular basis he'd be a lot better
regardless, overeem is head and shoulders the best pure striker in the heavyweight division....and until another mma hw wins a legit striking tournament its really not even a discussion

I'd put JDS above Overeem in any situation, JDS knows how not to get hit, Overeem just throws bombs.
