Tapology member Halny has started to send us a lot of updates about happenings in Polish MMA.  He's never posted in the forums, but I'm encouraging him to come here and start providing updates on cards and fighters in Poland.  There's a lot going on in that country!

I've been sipping the Khalidov kool-aid for a while now, I want Mamed vs Okami or Shlemenko in 2014.

Ryuta would embarrass Khalidov again and still only get a draw because KSW. I still think Khalidov is UFC level but not at the price he is wanting

Are there any regular posters out of Poland? If ao Id like to hear what they have to say about MMA in their growth for instance was MMA even existant in Poland 5 years ago? Is it on basic cable in Poland, major channels? Do the Polaks have access to the UFC very much or is it all local shows and KSW is their UFC? Are there gyms in every town/city? Is Pudz or Mamed house hold names? How common is it for peoplw to talk aboutect?

The other event is probably too close to the start time to add in time to make it pickable for this weekends contest. Having a quick search it looks like it starts 2pm Polish time tomorrow which is around 19 hours from now.

@Nomad
MMA exists in Poland for about 11-12 years but was not very popular until Pudzianowski debuted at KSW. He is the reason why it became so big. Unfortunately a bit of credit has to go to Marcin Najman (worst MMA fighter ever and one of the most hated people in Poland) who was Pudz's opponent. Mariusz was really hyped by KSW after his first two wins but after Sylvia fight most people realized that he's not that good and will never really achieve anything special and slowly turned their attention to Khalidov. Right now Mamed is almost as popular as Pudz. He's in commercials, on TV shows, has his own energy drink and I won't be surprised to see him in Dancing With The Stars one day.

Yes we can watch UFC live on tv but it's not very popular mainly due to timezones (events in USA and Brazil start around midnight Polish time). Gyms are not in every city but there are quite a lot. The only problem with MMA in Poland is that most fans don't care about anything other than KSW. Even UFC is not that popular unless there is a card with Polish fighter on it. MMA Attack 4 had one of the best if not THE best fightcard ever in Polish MMA but it had to be cancelled because tickets were not selling well and some sponsors backed off.

@Ronwah
I think it starts at 7pm Polish time.

Agnieszka "Kuma" Niedźwiedź, your heard it here first.

She's 4-0 (3KO, 1SUB), hasn't fought anyone special yet but I have a good feeling about her.

Plus, she's a 135er and pretty so we may be seeing her in the UFC one day ... she doesn't do thong/butt pics so she might take longer than Alexandra Albu ;), but she's def on my "prospects to watch" list.

Shouldnt the UFC just air major events in other countries with tape delay so they can watch it an ideal time? Live events at 1am till 5am isnt easy for a Brit fan.

They replay the event the following day in the UK anyway. It's better to give people the opportunity to watch it live than force them to wait a full day.

Back in the bad old days we had to wait until Sunday night at 9pm to watch it on Bravo.

@Nomad, with the internet and global information what it is today, they'd lose quite a lot of PPV buys of they did that.

I'm and Englishman living in Israel, so your 1am till 5am is 3am till 7am for me and we work Sundays here too ... so I hope it comforts you that some have it worse :)))

EDIT:: just noticed you're talking about airing it later in other countries (where there are no PPV buys), so strike what I said ... basically what Ronwah said, over here they air it live and then a **** load more times at more humane hours throughout the week too, so you can basically pick when you see it or DVR/Tevo that **** ;)

I personally love watching them live, as tough as it is, so I'm glad I have that option too ... mainly because I know no one here who watches MMA, so I can't grab some mates and some beers and watch the fights as they're supposed to be watched, so I'd rather experience them "with" you dudes on Tapology than watch them alone, in silence due to wife and baby sleeping :)

By the way, we shouldn't be complaining, yeah, the hours are murder, but we don't have to shell out 50-60$ per PPV do we? Thanks to TV deals, I pay a monthly fee of the equivalent of 10$ and get all of the events free. So it's a good trade-off in my books.

I also get Cage Warriors and Bellator on two different channels which are included in my cable suite and EFCA on another one of those, so basically I'm kinda covered taking into consideration I live in a country where MMA is almost non-existent.

Sapp is fighting only for the money. When someone pays well then Bob fights.

News about the opponent of Mamed

Mamed Khalidov has four candidates for the opponents. The most likely is Ryuta Sakurai. Besides him, there is still Tomasz Drwal, Jay Silva and Yushin Okami least likely.

Drwal wrote on his facebook fanpage, that KSW made him an offer.
Martin Lewandowski, one of KSW owner wrote on twitter that they negotiate with Okami.
