This is old but thought I'd share.
Boxing is definitely more dangerous. The hit impact span when a boxing glove hits your cranium or equilibrium is more powerful in a sense when boxers keep getting rocked and stood up.  MMA 4 oz gloves hit a smaller spread when it hits the surface of the skull. Creating flash knockouts and there isn't a 10 second stand up. UFC rules have always been safer and that's why we have fighters that are like Chuck not continuing on when he's not healthy to do so.

Bill O'Reilly is just a stupid troll. He has no clue about the rules or restrictions placed on fighters. Oh this article says MMA is 3x more dangerous than boxing so it's obviously true. He needs to learn his facts.

MMA has been proven to be safer then boxing, as notable MMA deaths have either occured outside of the Octagon/Ring or been unsanctioned

I'm willing to fight Bill O'Reilly. In boxing mma or grappling. Maybe even a bully beatdown rules fight. Since the host is off to bigger and better things and spike isnt carrying mma soon I would throw my hat in to take the wheel here and host a show where i fight any celebrity challengers/ people blocking combat sport.

Who wouldn't watch that?

Seriously speaking.. boxing is much more dangerous for the fighers.. this doesn't make sense.   I'll get into it more tomorrow when I'm able to, but... really?   Obvioulsy that dude is uneducated regarding physical sports.

Im going to ignore whatever O'Rielly said because he does talk out of his ass. But on a serious note I don't think mma has been around long enough or in the mainstream long enough to have any serious data on the longer term affect on fighters. Boxing has been around forever and the long term problems for fighters are apparent, but as far as mma goes I know I've never seen any studies done on it and until they are done its a pretty pointless argument. Also it would be interesting to see stats on short term injuries. I've never been a big boxing fan so I could be wrong here but it seems like mma has way more short term injuries than boxing; e.g. broken hands, orbital bones, noses, arms, large cuts, scar tissue. I'm not trying to arguing that mma is more dangerous just some random things to think about.

Bill O'Reilly is about as intelligent as a wet fart, and that's insulting the wet fart.

The sun is also bad for you nowadays. I say Bill O'Reilly stays out of contact sports and I stay out of his country club.
