i also feel sorry for Story a bit because he's gone from a WIN/WIN in the way that if he lost, it was to Marquardt "the bigger stonger natural MW" etc but if he won it moved him closer to the title shot - and now its pretty much LOSE/LOSE, if he Wins, not taking anything away from Brenneman but it wont be that big of a deal and if he loses it'll be 'Story was over-rated'

(they're not my opinions but its the sort of things i can imagine being said)

I read somewhere on Sherdog that Nate was going to be able to make 170 no problem, and the problem is stemming from elsewhere. I wish they'd just hurry up and fill us in on it.

It's more then weight issue. As others have pointed out there have been fighters (argubably lesser then Nate) who have been punished but not fired for missing weight. We just gotta wait until Dana (or Nate's camp) gives us a statement that has more details.

What the hell!?!? I havent been on the computer all day I come on to Tapology and see that Barry v. Kongo is now the main event. I need answer lol I have to lean towards Dana over reacting. The only things I can think of that would stop Nate from fighting would be overweight or illegal substances, neither one warrants being cut from the UFC. A lot of fighters have failed to make weight and a lot have popped on drug test and they didnt get cut.So unless something crazy happened that I cant even imagine, which is always possible, Dana is just over reacting

Considering how the AC is supposedly going to have an announcement on this sometime tomorrow I am sure we will find out what it was.
I can't think of what it was though... Sonnen (who yes I am a fan of) is still around, kinda, after his things, Guillard supposedly had cocaine traces or something at one point and is still around.

For Dana to fire him it seems like it had to be more than just missing weight. Usually a fighter who misses weight is fined 10% of his purse. He must have been unable to fight because he stopped sweating and the Drs ruled it was medically unsafe for him to continue or...the big S bomb, steroids. The way they got Brenaman to replace him so fast leads me to believe they were watching him and he was too heavy all week, so they had a backup plan waiting in the wings.
Would be nice though for someone to relay some accurate info from the camp or from UFC

i really do think that theres a chance that nate was way off weight, i know his camp has said otherwise but he looked so big at the open workouts imo. and if he showed up before weigh ins and he wasn't even close to making weight i could see dana losing it because he should have let them know he was that far off....but at the same time i do agree with others that its likely worse than just a weight issue to get fired that quickly

Its a shame Nate is a good fighter and you would hate to see him leave the UFC for some stupid reason, I hope it gets straightened out and he is back in soon.
