Prediction: correct St-Pierre   correct Decision

Even though I think that GSP has better overall striking, I don't think the fight will be determined on their feet.
I strongly believe it will be determined on the ground.

He who has the most on-top position time will have the advantage and hence win the fight.  They will both try to shoot on each other.  Whoever lands on top the most will prevail.

Hendricks' former wrestling coach was Oklahoma State University's John Smith, a highly-touted coach.  Johny is visiting them often to prepare for his title shot.  Coach Smith brought in Chris Perry and Kyle Crutchmer, 2 big strong wrestlers, to try to take Johny down.  That is exactly what he needs to do.  Train in his anti-take-down defenses.

Johny also revealed that he cuts from all the way out at 210!  40 pounds is a huge cut.  They brought in this master dietitian weight-cut guy to supervise his cut.  He says it's his easier cut yet.

Mark my words.  It will be decided on the ground.  It is great that Hendricks has all the confidence in the world in his wrestling.  He will need every bit of it.  I just hope he's not under-estimating GSP's ground skills.

GSP at 155?  I just can't see it.  Cutting from 195 is one massive cut.  40 pounds?  Why in the world would he put himself through that?

At 155?  Inconceivable.  If we think he's dominant at WW, he would be God himself at LW.  Can't see it.  Ain't gonna happen.  The LWs better pray it doesn't ever happen.

GSP only bulked up to 195 when he had to fight Alves. Even now, he walks around closer to 185 or 190. The last time Firas mentioned it he said GSP was at 184 before camp started because they were focused on gymnastics instead of lots of lifting. He can make it.

If GSP decides to drop to LW, I'd be shocked out of my mind.  Astounded.  Astonished.  I just can't wrap my mind around that.

That would be like Anderson Silva dropping to WW, or Jon Jones dropping to 185, or Cain Velasqez dropping to 205.  Some things need to be seen to be believed.  I'm still trying to wrap my mind around BJ Penn dropping to 145!!!

GSP started off as one of the biggest 170s in the world. Now there are quite a few guys in the division that dwarf him. Still, I'd like to see him stay at WW. But if dropping to 155 means finishes galore, I'll take it.

I think it would be shocking too, but I know if both a fighter and his coach have openly admitted making 155 would be easier than moving up to 185 that there is a better chance of them moving down than up.

As far as the GSP vs Hendricks fight is concerned, I think GSP will basically control all aspects of the fight. Hendricks is a better pure wrestler, but not a better mma wrestler, and that makes a huge difference. GSP will have the better striking for sure, and if he decides to take Hendricks down, he will be able to keep him there. The biggest threat to GSP in this fight is the left hand from Hendricks. But is usually a one or two punch combo that he throws with it, so it should be pretty easy for a great striker like GSP to avoid.

Come on Bill don't be so naive. Do you really think if GSP moved to 155 that he would maintain the same walk around weight he does now and make a huge cut for every fight? Of course he would drop some weight. Probably walk around 175-180 which is very similar to Benson.

Maybe the super fight that GSP was hinting at was with Aldo at 155? Or Pettis. Whether he moves up or moves down I think it will be a very exciting time to be a GSP fan.

If GSP announces after the Hendricks fight that he is dropping down to 155, I will feel like a 14-year old naive virgin.  I'm 62, and after a decade of listening to Dana White's baloney, I thought I was shock-proof.  Unshockable.  But that announcement would do it.  Challenge my eternal verities.

How can someone who walks around now at 193, lower their 'walking around weight' without giving up solid muscle?  Wouldn't giving up 10 pounds of water weight mean he would be dehydrated all the time?

I just don't understand this weight shifting stuff.  Does anyone get it so they can explain it to a stupid-ass like me?

Compare GSP to guys at 185lbs with similar frames...Jacare, Munoz, Costa....GSP would be a TINY Middleweight but compare him to most any Lightweight he'd be huge. GSP isn't a huge WW, he's probably one of the most ideally sized WW's, look at the WW top 10 none of the gigantic ones are in it really.

Gleison Tibau cuts from about 185. So yes in terms of weight he is the same size as GSP.  His frame however is smaller. it would be much much harder for geroge to make 155 then it would be for Tibau they have completely different body types. Tibau has a bunch of unneeded muscle mass that George just does not have.

@Bill, Johny starts camp at 210-220 ends camp probably around 185lbs and actually cuts 15lbs of water weight from there. He does not cut 40+lbs in the last week or two. Seriously, Johny walks around 215 with a jiggly gut.

I have a bit of a development brewing on Saturday. For reasons that would take too long to explain, my roommate's GF (who doesn't live in our apt) is having Thanksgiving dinner on Saturday at our apartment for like 15 people.

Our living room and dining room are essentially in the same area.

Her guests are probably won't expect a complete stranger watching 2 men beat the **** out of each other while a lovable, but very loud bald man yells "OHHHHHHHHH!!!" every 5-20 minutes as they eat their thanksgiving dinner.

I'll be more than happy to provide details if anything interesting occurs.
