We've seen Fedor's prime but we haven't seen Jones' prime yet. Does anyone realize how ******* scary that is for the LHW and HW division.

People like to discredit Fedor's skill and accomplishments.  For his time the guy was amazing.

But, the sport has changed. Training methods have changed. Gameplanning has changed. The cage is different from the ring.

Fedor was so fast in his prime that there'd be a chance he could tag Jones and end it. But more likely is that Jones would pick him apart with a smart gameplan.

Jon Jones, despite my dislike for him, will more than likely become the greatest MMA fighter ever soon before later. He is virtually unstoppable. Amazing wrestling, amazing top game, great striking, great cardio so on and so forth.

Is this even a serious question? Jones would absolutely ruin Fedor.

I'm not sure we have seen Jon Jones in his prime yet, he seems to be getting better with each fight.

But; the answer is and always will be, Fedor.

Fedor was amazing in his time.  He seemed unstoppable.  But that was then and this is now.

The sport is evolving at a furious pace.  Every year the fighters get more rounded, more tenacious, more hard-nosed.

To say that Jon Jones would beat Fedor at this prime is no disgrace to Fedor at all.  But then again, Jon Jones has all the advantages.  He has better training knowledge base, better training partners, better game-planning.

Will Jon rise higher above his peers than Fedor did?  Time will tell.  Fedor did rise very high over his peers, too.  Making his place on the GOAT ranking secure for all time.

But Jon at his best could beat Fedor at his best.  It's the nature of the evolution of sport.

Fedor was a placid, passive, bland man.  So is Jon.  But the competive fires burn intensely in both.

Jon fights with creativity, verve, and a desire to leave his imprint on each fight.  He is keenly aware of his place in history.  He will never allow nature to take its course.  Like Ty Cobb in baseball, Jon forces his will on life.  He makes his own breaks.  He shapes his own destiny.

Fedor seemed to let his management team to decide his fate.  Jones is far too independent to let Greg Jackson to control his destiny.  He allows him to shape his training and game-plans which is not the same thing.

I think Jon Jones has a much greater need to become the GOAT than Fedor ever did.  I don't even know if Fedor cared about that.  For Fedor, it wall all the will of God.  Too passive an attitude for Jones.

Prime Fedor might be able to armbar Jones from his back...

Probably not though. Jones is a new breed.

This is a stupid question because times change and fighting adapts. The catch though is that Fedor was definitely way ahead of his time which was why he was so dominant.

Ten years from now and the mid-tier light heavyweights will probably be able to beat prime Fedor, just like how a random NHL player like James Neal could destroy prime Maurice Richard or an NFL player like Marshawn Lynch being able to beat Walter Payton or even an NBA guy like Kevin Love being able to destroy Wilt Chamberlain if they would ever play 1 on 1.

What I'm trying to say is just because one could beat the other does not necessarily mean that one is greater than the other.
