I was gonna say I'm surprised Shogun wasn't higher up.  He's my all time favorite fighter but I'll be damned if doesn't look a fraction of the wrecking machine he was in Pride.

I'm surprised no Josh Grispi. From FW title contender to an absolute no one. He was under the radar though since the fight was scheduled right after the WEC merger, so many people who weren't paying attention to the WEC aren't really familiar with him.

Looking through the list, I see a lot of the fighters had some tough breaks, and that's what makes MMA fighters so great. What if Rashad didn't get hurt, would he have beat Shogun and become UFC champ again? If Shogun was given a 10-8 round against Henderson, would that have changed anything? If Hominick got the split decision over Yagin, woud he still be fighting?

Just goes to show you how delicate the career of a fighter is.

I would say Hominick. He went from being considered a decent FW to having an all out war with Jose Aldo AND almost won the fight in the final minutes.. He went from there to three losses followed by retirement.

You guys are bringing up a lot of valid arguments that I hadn't thought of. I just switched my #1 to Ken Shamrock. How did I not think of that one earlier. amirite?

I agree with am112 on a lot of those points.  I think with Rashad it seems more like a matter of motivation.  Shogun's body just doesn't seem to let him be as aggressive and versatile as he used to be.  I also can't help but feel like he never really adjusted to fighting in the octagon as well as he did in a ring.

Present day, Fedor. Mark Coleman fell apart towards the end of his career. He looked unstoppable at one point in time.

Present day Fedor only lost to Werdum, Bigfoot and Hendo... That really isn't that bad for an aging fighter..

Also, just about anyone could have lost those fights in the same manner (accept Velasquez lol we saw how he handles a bigfoot)

Chael Sonnen. He went from a legitimate challenger to Anderson Silvas middleweight title to being a nuisance in the matter of 2 years.

Obviously not the biggest \fall\ in the sport .. but its worth mention.

Realistically the first answer is Bob Sapp. He went from giving Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira the fight of his life to tapping due to strikes like 60 times in a row all in the first round. Pathetic.

How has no one mentioned Miguel Torres, definitely think he's got to be up there on the list.
