This MMA community has many non-MMA threads already.  Music, Jokes, baseball, football, etc.

So, I thought it might serve a purpose to create a thread for all the other contributions to each other's lives that don't fit anywhere else.

Do you have something that would enrich the community culturally?  Maybe dance, comedy, nutritional, inspirational, arresting visuals?  But please let's keep this positive, and appropriate to the general public.

Maybe a video clip of a movie, broadway show, highly unusual, utterly creative, a cutting edge piece of information, a new computer application, or something that would make someone's life better or richer.

Brazillian Ju-jitsu

The greatest Brazillian Ju-Jitsu fighter I've ever seen, was Royce Gracie, by far.  He was awesome in that when he fought in the early UFC, 1993-1995, he was obliged to fight 2-3 times in one day, and there were no weight divisions.

When he left the UFC after UFC 5, on April 7, 1995, his UFC record was 11-0-1.  The Gracie family objected to the introduction of rounds or weight divisions.  They trained to fight unitl someone lost.  UFC 12 (February 7, 1997) saw the introduction of weight classes (HW, 200 & over), and LW (199 & under), and UFC 21 saw the introduction of 5-minute rounds, (preliminary bouts now consisted of two five minute-rounds, main card bouts were three five-minute rounds and championship bouts were five five-minute rounds).

He owned wins over Ken Shamrock, Dan Severn, Kimo Leopoldo.

Here is a fight where 180 lb. Royce submitted 260 lb. Dan Severn, on December 16, 1994.  Royce was 27, 6'1, and Dan was 34 and 6'2.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E18aLFeRNAY

Here is are high-light reels of Royce's wins.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yWCZTbLtO3U

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T4jG3D5O5jc

His fighting style was like that of a Python or Anaconda.  Severn and Kimo were massive mountains of men possessed of brute strength.  But all that power was rendered helpless by Brazillian ju-jitsu technique as practiced, taught and advocated by the Gracie family.  He went after armbars and rear nakeds with maniacal determination.  And he got them!  Against giants who out-weighed him by 80 lbs!  Men who were not amateurs or bums, but great, trained fighters like Kimo, Shamrock and Severn!

And Royce was honest and humble enough to admit that all he accomplished was due to Gracie family ju-jitsu.  Very honest, objective and transparent of him.  The triumph of Gracie ju-jitsu is that every single MMA fighter today and in the future, must have Brazillian ju-jitsu to be competitive.  That is the ultimate triumph of BJJ.

Another masterful BJJ fighter is Demian Maia.  Here is a high-light reel of some of his fights.

Why Were the New York Yankees Baseball's Most Important Team?

Wolf asked for a post on why the New York Yankees were so dominant.  It is beyond the scope of a single post to encapsulate such a big subject, but interestingly, I did create an entire thread to that very subject on baseball-fever.

In the interest of conserving space, I will simply give the link to that thead, and a single post in it.

Here is the link to the thread.
http://www.baseball-fever.com/showthread.php?93429-Why-were-the-Yankees-baseball-s-most-important-team

And here is a single post on how they succeeded in branding themselves better than the New York Giants.

Not so simple.  In 1920, the New York Giants were the premier team in baseball.  They had the most money.  But they didn't have Babe Ruth.  They made lots of mistakes.

1. Sgt. Pepper Lonely Hearts Club Band (1967, Beatles)
3. Revolver (1966, Beatles)
10. Double White Album (1968, Beatles)
