Carwin vs. Dos Santos Predictions

Carwin via TKO/KO in the first round. Dos santos couldn't finish nelson, is he really going to finish carwin, let alone  cain?

its easy to finish someone that cant really fight anymore. so yes he can finish carwin and no i dont really see him finishing cain.

This fight can go either way, and it can end in just one punch from either fighter. What it all boils down too, is who can take the hit, and who will deliver the hit? I've never really seen either fighter in any real trouble in any of their fights, except for their losses, but for Carwin, it was because he gassed, and for Dos Santos, it was because of making a stupid mistake.

What wins in a fight like this? Cardio? Intelligence?

This fight comes down to what really wins fights? Technique or Power? JDS is definitely the more technical and accurate striker, that's why I chose him, but I would'nt be surprised at all if Carwin knocked out JDS.

@jaykool, great post.The Dos Santos loss was reminiscent of an early Anderson Silva loss, a stupid mistake. Junior is a much better technical fighter, he will pick Carwin apart.

Back to the subject of the fight. That's how I see it playing out too. Dos Santos is a very smart and tactical striker, and he trains with one of the best camps in all of MMA. Having Anderson Silva, Lyoto Machida, and the Nogueira brothers as training partners is a great way to develop your overall game. Plus with Mark Munoz in there, I'm sure he'll be working on his wrestling and takedown defense.

The closer we get, the more I feel like Carwin will take this...but I won't change my pick, I've done that before and jinxed myself.

@Danno I get the same feelings before some fights...normally I'll go back closer to fight day and recheck all my picks and really look over the fight

Pretty much no matter how you see it, Carwin and Dos Santos are quite even (as long as Carwin has got his cardio in shape). One interesting thing I read about in a column over at 411Mania is that the ground game may be the X factor in deciding the fight.

Dos Santos should take this to the ground. He'll have a tough time standing with Carwin.

This ain't going to decision. I think Dos Santos will be hungrier and when they are both gassed in round 3 pull out his secret weapon!

I have a decision either way here. In my opinion if Dos Santos wins, he outpoints him on the feet with his superior technique. If Carwin wins, it's with takedowns.

That's just my opinion.

26 total fights : Only 3 gone past the 1st round...  I really dont think its going past the 1st ... Whoever lands 1st!
