If this fight goes down which I think it's only a matter of time who will win it?

I like both guys but I see Chael grinding out a decision regardless what weight this fight happens at.

what? those weren't beatings. He did the exact same thing that he always does, it took him 20 seconds to clinch and 40 to take Marquardt down, then he just remained active enough not to get stoop up for three rounds
.
If you're saying it was a beating because it was a bloody fight, get your facts checked, the blood was all Sonnen's. He got hurt the most even if he was on top for three rounds. That's how much he sucks.

I don't know that he got his ass whooped. He got held down for 15 minutes and couldn't get to his feet. Chael also said it was the toughest fight of his UFC career. And that cut on Sonnen was pretty good. In a post fight interview I believe with Helwani it was still bleeding and he kept having to wipe his face.

Chael Sonnen uses what i like to call. No stand up LnP. he does just enough to not get stood up, but isnt really doing any damage. To be on top of someone as much as he does, when he fights. He would have some serious GnP, and would be stopping people left and right with strikes. He has some of the weakest GnP in the UFC right now. Thats why ALL but 1 fight has gone to decision. Stann kinda gave him that arm/triangle on a silver platter i you ask me lol but yes i agree with p4pgoat. Chael gets more damaged while on top, then the guy on the bottom does. Just look at his face after the first Silva fight.

Chael Sonnen does not Lay and Pray.. that would mean, he gets the guy to the ground and won't throw too many strikes or even try to advance position. Look at the Silva fight, did he finish? No. Did he do a tremendous amount of damage? No. But he definitely was not 'LnP'ing.

In the Silva fight he threw 434 strikes, obviously a very high % of those were on the ground.. That is not LnPing. He only had 6 successful passes, but on a guy like Anderson Silva that is quite good.

Look at the 2nd Silva fight, in the 1st round he threw around somewhere around 90 strikes, just about every one of those on the ground, and he got 2 passes.. In 1 round. That isn't LnPing..

Chael has 1 finish victory(sub),4 decisions wins and 3 defeats (all finishes) in the UFC I think that says a lot about what kind of fighter Chael is, he is an exceptional wrestler but that´s it, he lacks power and is not a very good striker and he has near zero BJJ, so his gameplan is very limited in fact it´s always the same as you all know, take them down and keep them down while throwing short punches  to the body and/or the covered head of his opponent and the occasional elbow.  I wouldn´t say he destroys his opponents, he dominates them, he grinds them and he is very good at it, saying that he destroys them is going too far.

Saying all Chael has is wrestling is quite frankly ********. The guy hurt Anderson Silva on the feet who else can say they've done that?
What Chael does is by no means lay and pray. He is constantly trying to better his position and throwing a ton of strikes.

Chael did hurt Anderson standing up, but it was kind of an anomaly.

I mean, when else did Sonnen ever hurt anyone with strikes on his feet like that?  Then he steps in there and is suddenly able to drop the best striker in the history of the sport, multiple times?  It was really one of the weirder occurrences in the sport's history.

chael throws strikes like John Fitch throws strikes. Like its a game where you score points by how many times you touch the other guy with your gloves, as opposed to say, I dunno, a fight, where you want to make the other guy unable to keep going.

Yea, that was kinda wierd. .Chael hit him with that first punch, and rocked him. Look at the second fight, in the second round. Chael hit him with the same punch, while Silva was backing up into the cage, and didnt do anything. The second fight, Silva was in more of a bad position to get hit in. Backing up straight in to the cage while getting punched isnt the best thing to do, but then again, Anderson is real good at rolling with punches lol

To be fair, Anderson Silva was not the Anderson Silva we all knew at UFC 117...and that was evident.

Got held down for 15 minutes while getting punched in the face. I.e got his ass whooped.

Anderson never got rocked though, it was obvious he faked it, he just wanted to create some drama for the doco they were making

Chael has a lot of power, if he didn't he wouldn't be able to take people down like that and hold them there at will.
Not having punching technique is another deal.

@gege he does have punching technique though. Don't get me wrong the guy won't go down as one of the best strikers the sport has ever seen but he has under rated stand up.

chael's stand up technique is deft, but he has no real power to speak of.

well put @justyn Chael does have good boxing. It's probably underrated because his wrestling gets all the attention. It seems like some think you only have good boxing if you have huge power.

Chael's striking is based around his wrestling, I love that. Even the way he parries shots is used to counter into a level change, that's what's so fascinating about it.

Not that Chael Sonnen's a good striker or anything, because he's not. He really likes the inside lead leg kick though, why I do not know.
