Tough first fight for Nobre. I think he really agreed to this so he has a way into the UFC, then his next fight would be a flyweight. Either weight class he is a good addition.

I really think that with Alcantara coming down from flyweight plus being UFC tested and Nobre being a natural featherweight this might be a bit too steep a task for him ... But like @Cthulhu said, he's taking a fight on short notice to get into both the UFC and their Brass' good books.

Good career move and I hope that after that he does fight at flyweight ... that division's in need of some more depth ...

goddamit UFC! why keep using Yuri Marajó as the guy to welcome new brazilian prospects to the UFC? Pedro Nobre has a great future ahead of him, but i don 't think he stands a chance against Yuri... this will only make a promising prospect look bad.

@vazio, I think they won't take it too bad if he loses ... my guess is they already had their eye on him for the flyweight division, needed a quick replacement and he was game. He's only just fought and didn't get too beat up so he's probably in shape.

I'm pretty sure he's going to get the "short notice/above his weight class" treatment and "live to fight another day" in the UFC.

Hey, and you never know, he may just pull one off, he's got the KO power (even though Yuri hasn't been KO'd before), stranger things have happened :)

@vazio

A lot of us didn't think Hacran Dias had much chance against Alcantara. Nobre is a warrior, even if he loses he'll turn some heads. I just hate that he'll be outsized, much like he was against Moraes. Definitely not an idea debut.

@StealingFire, I don't think this is the same case, since Hacran was already considered a stud at featherweight and had a full camp to prepare for Alcantara ... Nobre, on top of being unproven against top brass is a flyweight while Alcantara is a featherweight coming down to bantamweight.

That's a 20lbs difference between them when they each last fought. Add that to the fact that Nobre's got UFC jitters, recovery from a fight in December (which granted, he won fairly easy, but still has a wear and tear) and the fact that Alcantara's proven UFC caliber two weight classes higher and you get a tall order for Nobre even if he's the next Anderson Silva. Plus he doesn't have that much time to prepare for Alcantara's style.

Not saying it's impossible, just saying it might be just that bit too much for him right now.

Regardless how this fight goes I think it's still a good deal for Nobre. If Yuri wins this fight Nobre still is in the UFC and can drop to flyweight after this.

Yup, he's definitely in a win-win situation.
