i love pretty much all scary movies. my favorite movies overall would have to be martyrs, scarface, kill bill, dawn of the dead, and many many more

The new film Drive is fantastic, great acting, great soundtrack and mood.

Red State by Kevin Smith (Jay and Silent Bob, Clerks, Dogma etc etc etc.) is maybe the best movie I've ever seen. It's a huge step away from his usual style. It's a good look at some current events and some ****** up things in the world.

I finally watched Oldboy and im still thinking about it, great movie. I see that spike lee is gonna direct the american version but without the special twist subject at the end (not to spoil for people planning watch). I was fully engrossed even while reading the subs. The scene in the hall where he fights 12 dudes is amazing as far as fight scenes go reminded me of arcade double dragon.

In terms of emotional impact, The Tree of Life did the trick for me, but it won't for some people.
In terms of overall movie, I'd have to go with Drive. Ryan Gosling gave one of the best performances I've ever seen in that film, and while it's not going to be for everyone, I've found myself thinking about it at random times since seeing it about three weeks ago.
I've also got to give an honorable mention to Rango, just for taking the risks it did in the genre it occupies. Highly recommended.
