Thought this would be a great forum to talk and spread and receive knowledge on international Brazilian Jui Jitsu.

For me, Brazilian Jui Jitsu has had an unexplainable positive impact on my life. Use this thread to post videos, stories or any questions you have about Jui Jitsu. For starters watch this excellent documentary on Alliance BJJ NYC founder Fabio Clemente. Rolled up is a great show. Its Budo Jake going around the legendary gymds around the world and exploring the culture of the particular BJJ in that area.

Enjoy!

Metamoris looks awesome, but I'm not sure I wanna drop 19.95 for an internet stream.

Well, I haven't been able to roll nearly as much as I'd like here recently due to my finances.  However, I've been grappling 1-2 times a week with a co-worker who trains Jits, so at least I haven't lost too much progress.

The good news is, I just got approved by my department to attend a Carlson Gracie Jr. law enforcement ground fighting seminar.  It's actually an instructor course, though I'm not sure what exactly it makes me an instructor in, whether it's Gracie Combatives or GST, or something that Carlson Gracie Jr. made up.  I'm just excited about the opportunity to train with a living legend.

Didn't quite understand the rules...The rules said that for a takedown to score points you must control it for one second...I got takendown twice, but before we even hit the ground was working to get back up...apparently the refs award points if your back touches the mat which I didn't know til afterwards and lost the match 4-0 (takedowns are 2 points) in what was most likely the most boring BJJ match in history!

Dont feel bad soccer. I was in a match against the gold medal winner, and I was up 9-0, but I gassed with 2 minutes left and he beat me 10-9

That sucks man I would be heart broken if that was me!  I don't feel bad about it, because it was the first time I'd ever competed one on one in any sport (always played football)...Like my sig says you either win or you learn!

Watching Demian Maia and Marcelo Garcia roll may be the biggest mind **** in the history of existence...

Also in that video on the previous page,Marcelo's shirt says "Hey ho lets roll" I find this incredibly awesome for some strange reason! haha

Wow.  I absolutely love that video.  Thank you for sharing it!  Really helped to put things back into perspective, because Rener is right (of course.)  Sport Jiu-Jitsu is a beautiful thing, but it has been taking over the BJJ world, and steering it away from it's original intentions upon creation.  Hell, I have lost sight of the real picture, the real reason for my interest in martial arts over 14 years ago when I started.  I have a lot of respect and admiration for Rener, number one - because he offers up so much knowledge to law enforcement, with the hopes of keeping us safer.  Number two - because he has such a deep passion and understanding for the art.
