Since it's a slow day in the world of MMA, I thought it would be cool to talk about Tapology and ourselves.. anything at all regarding the same.  I'll get a brief start going..

I live in PA, am 30 and have been a fan of MMA since I was a teenager.  Work for the railroad and rarely ever miss an event regardless of promotion/stature.  I like Tapology b/c of the environment it fosters.  I wish we could edit/delete our posts... maybe have categories of threads for the forums, but all in all, I appreciate the type of place this is thus far.

I got asked what my favorite website is at a job interview today. Of course I gave a shout out to Tapology, the greatest site in the world.

Also told the guy to bet the farm on Anderson Silva against Nick Diaz.

I think my favorite part of that head kick GIF is how the kicking guy just stops and looks visibly confused instead of celebrating.

My first thought after I answered the question was "how funny would it have been if I said a **** site, what would their reaction have been?"

So everybody's favourite UFC announcer Mike Goldberg really blew it when "announcing" (or rather trying and failing to) an NFL game this weekend and then told people criticising him on Twitter to **** off. I wonder why anyone would think getting Goldie to do it was a good idea, since he's not even good (and that's putting it mildly) at announcing UFC and he has been doing that since 1997.

On a personal level I feel badly for Goldberg, he's just trying to have a career.

On a professional level he's my least favorite announcer.  UFC is loyal to him since he's been around since the early days, but I just can't stand how poorly he does at play by play.

Don't feel bad for him he's probably getting paid well into the six figures, 500k per year I bet. He is bad at his job and he should feel bad.

Goldberg is a terrible announcer, but so are several other announcers out there and I don't think Goldberg is even the worst UFC announcer. Jon Anik is just awful and he says the same stupid crap in every single fight (his constant blathering on about how well somebody's chin is holding up is absolutely insufferable). Rogan's tolerable unless he's commentating a fight in which he hangs on the nuts of one of the fighters. Florian isn't bad, he just seems bland to me, but that could just be because he's teamed up with Anik and the two have voices that are sometimes indistinguishable. Stann's probably my favorite of the UFC team, but I've still heard better announcers.

What I can't understand is how Frank Mir hasn't gotten the call to do announcing in the UFC. I thought he was by far the best announcer in the WEC when they were trying new people every event. I dunno, he just has the right mix of knowledge and personality to make a good commentator.

I honestly don't mind him as much as some people do. He and Rogan work so well together, it doesn't bother me when he says something dumb. I almost look forward to it.

I don't mind Goldie as much as some people either. He says a lot of stupid **** but I don't think he's that awful at actually commentating. What I don't get is why Fox would just throw someone inexperienced like Goldie into announcing football. Fox did the same thing with Gus Johnson when he announced Champions League games, and he was pretty bad.

Yeah, and I love Gus Johnson too. The same thing would have happened if they put Sam Rosen or Joe Buck in with Rogan to do play by play on a UFC event. The ****iness was to be expected.

I am not a big fan of Goldie, but having watched the Lions/Vikings game I will say in his defense that most of his mistakes were with identifying players quickly and getting the distance gained on each play correct, two things that require a good deal of experience.  Since he's calling the Vikings/Bills game this weekend as well I would expect him to be better at least at identifying the Vikings players.  And I really like Gus Johnson, but does anyone remember how bad he was on those couple Strikeforce cards he called?
