St. Pierre vs. Condit

This is the official discussion thread for St. Pierre vs. Condit. Let's see what you've got.

@zarog  Calm down, old fellow.  It's not going to matter what Carlos' game-plan is.  He will not be the one deciding the issue.  If GSP wants to fight him on the ground, that's where Carlos will have to contest the battle.  It will NOT be HIS choice, but his opponent's.

Sad to say for Carlos, because I really do like him as a fighter, his best chance is on the feet and I doubt if GSP is going to allow that standup battle to unfold.  GSP is WAY to smart and crafty to fight his opponent's fight.  

Condit will have to learn to survive and fight off his back.  Carlos would do well to practice his take-down defenses, anti-TD sprall, and aggressive submission attack off his back, a la Royce Gracie.  Submissions will be a smart plan for Carlos to work on.  But that will be a tough assignment, since he will be the smaller, lighter man.  

A motivated, determined GSP on top of you is not a picnic.  GSP on top is no joke and Carlos had better be prepared to unleash an aggressive submission attack off his back.  That will be one of the few tools available to him.

@Bill I was calm. I was simply calling all the ******** in your previous post. I'm not disagreeing with the fact that Carlos will likely wind up on his back. Far from it.

No need to call all my ********, zarog.  It's been called by nastier and uglier than you.  

Ultimately, all I want is a good, competitive fight.  I want it to go 5 rounds and not be one-sided.  Even though GSP is my favorite fighter, I want the fight to last long and be exciting and entertaining.  

But from past experience, and my gut, I fear that Carlos will have too challenging an assignment that night.

Condit won't be able to beat GSP in any place, he is gonna be stomped and it will be fun to watch.





Also, Diaz won rounds 1, 2 and 5.

i'm actually kinda confident in condit. i bet he weighs 185-195  for this fight. he has time to get  this accomplished. i got tko but i could see a sub like he did vs brock larsen. i saw that live and it was brutal and very fast. plus i will say this again. the record of fighters who have been gone a long time with surgery is terrible.

Condit won't beat GSP, there is not a single place that he's better in than GSP. I recently watched the Nick Diaz Carlos Condit fight again and I have reversed my position on the vote, I think Nick Diaz won round 2 and therefore, the fight. I don't think Condit beat Ellenberger either and I think Hendricks, Koscheck AND Fitch would dispose of Condit.

Lol at the interim champion and number 1 contender being the 8th best fighter in the division. Sorry, it's true. Condit wouldn't be able to beat GSP, Ellenberger, Hendricks, Fitch, Koscheck, Nick Diaz and he already lost to Martin Kampmann and he would again. This title shot is a waste of time, the sole purpose of this fight is to showcase GSP post-injury and to show how much he's truly recovered. I mean, who honestly thinks Condit could WIN lmfao

@Anik On Bleacher Report there's a guy and he'll make a comment on an article and after everything he says he always puts 'Also, Diaz won rounds 1, 2 and 5' so I figured that's where you got it from...

oh well i remember russello saying it on these forums and on a youtube vid the guy ended his post with "also, Condit won rounds 2,3 and 4."

Sometime during this fight Condit will catch GSP and land a furry of punches and get the TKO win.

Oh and to people saying "If Carlos hits the knee" he has had tons of time to recover with the best medical staff around.If it was an issue he wouldn't be fighting.Plus leg kicks don't tear ACL's,Tweaking knees do.

Not if he fights like he did against Diaz.

GSP fights nothing like Diaz.Condit is a strategist and will have a different approach.
