What is your favorite submission and why?

Mine has to be a classic rear near naked choke or a gogoplota because i love the technique of the go go and the rnc is just bad ass as you have their back and sink in the choke.

Maia on Sonnen. Two of my favorite fighters, but the way Maia set up that triangle was a thing of beauty,

Kneebar because it's badass.

It also ended one of the greatest MMA grappling matches of all time.

Not only was it a awesome sub, Ryo was behind like Barnett is saying in the video and was losing the fight, against a guy we all know now is really hard to beat...a classic but there are so many...

Mir's armbar on Nogueira. Most of because the situation, Mir got dazed,Nogueira swarmed, tried to submit Mir, Mir reverse, Nogueira reverse, Mir again and get's the kimura.
Out of ego I think Big Nog didn't tap... was kinda bad move for him...

Gogoplatas are sick because of not only the amount of technique in the hold but the sheer brutality of the submission itself, by god. I also love armbars, armbars are ******* awesome to do AND see, plus there's so many ways to pull off an armbar in so many different positions.

My favorite submissions ever are the Silva-Sonnen and Hughes-Trigg subs but those are more symbolic than anything. Look-wise, the prettiest submission I've ever seen might be the Bermudez-Brandao armbar.

@Yorma, I was joking lol, motorboat is a smother sub and Ezekiel Choke (although a cool name) is simple a forearm choke.

The twister by Korean Zombie on Leonard Garcia, and Diego Brandao's armbar on Bermudez are two that pop in my head immediately.  The twister because of its rarity, and the spine contorting and the arm bar is such a brutal submission.

Finishing an ezekiel choke means your opponent has the submission defense of the average 7 year old.

RNC.  Fighters never get injured from them but it still looks badass when they pass out cold.  And there's almost never any controversy on early stoppages or anything.

Theres 3 sort of sub i ******* love :

1/ Anaconda Choke, just so smooth, so technical and if one of yours took one one time, its terrible.. The rotation+choke, i really dont take one on my neck.. ( Big Nog')

2/ Armbar from the back position.. The guy defend at 90% the RNC, in this position, but take him arm and turn hips to switch from the back to an armbar position is awesome.. ( Palhares made it i think)

3/ Peace, Love and.... Kimura !! For sure the Kimura is awesome.. I ******* love this lock position..

Triangle chokes. ******* love them, there's something about them. Despite it being an armbar also, this is my favourite:

i love Kimuras because of the history behind the move and because the guy cant punch you when you are going for it.
also like how they can be done from different situations. i do them a lot.

always pull for the guy thats attempting them.

Triangle Choke, D'Arce Choke, and Anaconda Choke.

As to why, I feel they are they require the most technical skill to pull off.  All three lend themselves to putting you in a very disadvantageous position if you mess it up.
