THE 2012 MVP OF TAPOLOGY - WEEK 22 RESULTS AND DISCUSSION

Week 22 of the 2012 MVP of Tapology is over and all the results are in.
The results are on the first page, below this message.

Those events are still pending and will be added later:
CAGE COMBAT 9
UWF 3

Each week, only the top 10 players of each team count in the team total.
A "MVP week" goes from thuesday midnight to  thuesday midnight and includes all the events that go official during this time. 
I will NOT post updates during the week. The pending events will be added in the next MVP week.

We use the regular Tapology scoring system, with bonus points.
For the regular players:
Winning a UFC event : 250 points
Winning an event (with at least 3 fights) : 50 points
*If you're the only one to win the event, you have 50 more points

First place in a MVP weekend : 250 points
Second place in a  MVP weekend  : 100 points
Third place in a  MVP weekend  : 50 points

For the Zuffa/Bellator players:
Winning a UFC event : 250 points 
Winning a Zuffa/Bellator event : 50 points
*If you're the only one to win the event, you have 50 more points 

First place among the Zuffa players in the weekly Zuffa standing : 250 points 
Second place among the Zuffa players in the weekly Zuffa standing : 100 points 
Third place among the Zuffa players in the weekly Zuffa standing : 50 points 

For the teams:
Winning the week : 250 points 
Making a trade/switch : -500 points

Oh haha, yeah I hadn't had much luck looking for these threads weekly but now I am finding them more easily by seeing the most active threads of the week. Would be fun to participate in the comments of it more but I'm not really a huge fan of reading through multiple pages of posts just to know what is going on in the thread for me to post in it.

well i think it sucks that hey are changing mid-stream. I jioned because my team was going to mount a comeback but now it appears we just give up.

if teams have guys who want to quit then let them quit...that's part of the competitveness. if your guys quit then you lose.

 

i think this sucks personally.

@armbar so you wouldn't want to see where you stack up in a new leader board and not be forever condemned to be around 80th?

this will be my last trip to the MVP game.

 but hey...it is what it is.  i'm just saying it's not what i thought it was.

Without knowing any of the details, creating a new game of this complexity and getting it right on the first try is pretty much impossible. I would think that all of you collectively will have better designs, rules, etc... on each successive season.  Getting too frustrated about the imperfections in season 1, either from a player or commish perspective, is probably not worth it.

I just find cutting the season short because some people can't/dont want to play renders the rest of the picks useless. there really isn't much point in carrying on when the leaders are practically mathematically a lock with just a few weeks remaining.

I was asked to join because the TEAM wanted to regain the lead, not to see MY name on a leaderboard.

@armbar you may be making all your picks but the fact is we have 15 member teams and not everyone is, and with these roster sizes we don't have anybody left to pick up and replace. Also we are in 3rd place, what about the teams in 4th, 5th or 6th? Even we are getting close to losing by 20,000 points. A month from now, a year from now. We weren't coming back.

The new league is going to go by a head to head match up record. So throughout the season all teh teams will be competitive and will be in it all year. I'm sorry you don't like the change armbar, but I definitely feel the majority does. 

Even Kaleb Starnes and Nate Quarry finished what they started. Had I known when I was asked to play what I know now, I would have said no. I put a lot of time (more than I wanted to) into trying to get all my picks so the team might gain ground, but it seems the people who don't want to play are determining what happens to those of us who do...or should I say "did".
So I guess we're declaring the Wolves winners now?

I've honestly been getting kind of bored of making sure I get the picks in too but sometimes I am more interested in doing it than others. I'd prefer not to let down the people that picked me for their team though and the guys working really hard to keep this thing running for all of us so that has kept me going.

Well, I think the change of the game is bs. I don't see why we can't keep the same teams and just start a new season in July? Wipe the slate clean and everyone has a chance again.

It's your guys game so it's your call but I think the new format will fall apart and lower the interest of members. It could start with 15 teams but it will eventually fall down to like 5 or 6 teams because they have all the good pickers and it will become unbalanced.

Honestly the formation of new teams is just a popularity contest imo. Whatevs tho

Anyone who says that hasn't even looked at the teams. And honestly, this has been set in stone now for over a month, and I did it after weeks of people complaining they wanted to change it because of the point disparity or they couldn't pick all the events and this and that. And I understand some of you aren't on the forums a lot but this has been talked about in every MVP thread for over a month now, why are you only now voicing your displeasure with changing it?

@Messiah....Wiping the slate clean will fix the point disparity. I honestly believe that most of the top pickers don't even care about their teams, all they care about is themselves and the leader board.

Just look at the new teams. It's a popularity contest and friends getting together and excluding everyone else.

Like I said. Your guys game, so do what you want. I will probably continue making my picks but I doubt I will take part in this new "contest"

If you don't want to that's your choice I guess, but like I said you had time to voice this before I started doing all this work to officially start the new league.

And to be honest this is a forum game. How many people do you see posting on the forum consistently, 30-40? How many ever vote on any of the games or GP's or anything else the site does, about 30-40. I'd rather my league be super fun for those 30-50 or so people that show they care about it and actually participate on the forums than have a good portion of those people on ****** teams and thus no one posting on the league forums.  

How many posts have been in the MVP threads the past couple of weeks, like maybe 50 a week? There used to be 500 a week easy.

I just realized after listening to the top team bragging how it's a lock that the season isn't actually the entire year. I don't frequent the forums so I miss the conversations between the 50 or so people who discuss changes.
It doesn't matter in the end...it's just not how I play any game...I never quit half way.

So is it official that everyone is conceding to the wolfies? I mean, it's over right?

Well I can't speak for the other teams but with 4 weeks left the Sons of tapology have not given up we are fighting til the end to overtake the wolves!
