Hats off to Mark Antonelli on his championship win. He trained hard, came in with a game plan, and executed. He is going to have a great career ahead of him and I believe is a high school wrestling coach. I wish him nothing but the best.

Now why I’m here. How on earth does the Ohio Athletic Commission select judges for these fights? They seemed to be quite up there in age and I question how many MMA fights they’ve actually seen and how are they trained? There are numerous accounts of one judge on his cellphone for the entirety of the 3rd round. If this were based on pure wrestling, I see where they came to their decision. Antonelli was on top on top for most of the fight. But what did he do with it? Walls two or three jabs at the beginning of the 3rd were more than Antonelli landed in the entire fight. With that top control, he threw no punches and maybe attempted one submission while fighting off chokes and arm bars the entire time.

It’s called MIXED Martial Arts. Walls was the better striker and more active throughout the entire fight. Again, no slight to Mark. He came in and did what he had to do to win a title. But the OAC really needs to look at the quality and experience of the people they assign to judge these fights. Not to mention the Dr they sent who was getting felt up by whoever it was sitting next to her cage side. These fighters bust their asses and sacrifice too much for a commission to half-ass it
