Okay, I would just like to point out that any one saying Carlos ran away the whole fight, I'm assuming you guys all HATE Frankie Edgar, Dominick Cruz, Jon Jones (when he's not wrestling), Anderson Silva in every first round he's ever been in, Renan Barão (last night at least) Lyoto Machida, and Michael Bisping. They all back up, and they all counter strike. By the logic of Octagon Control, these guys should never win decisions no matter how badly they are out-striking their opposition.

I thought Diaz had 1, 2, and 5.  For some judges to see it 49-46 was ridiculous.  Hope Condit retires that gameplan after last night.  It's not a good look.  I wanna see welterweight have an aggressive champion.

I don't hate Carlos Condit or any of those guys, but when someone wins a fight only backpedalling with really lame little counter strikes or leg kicks.. then I hate that fight.

Also, I agree with Derp here 100%

@Tank - Yes, it's the same reason GSP has slowly lost me as a fan.  A champion shouldn't only fight not to lose.  A champion should be fighting to win.  It gives me new appreciation for Jon Jones.  You can say a lot of things about the man, but he's an aggressive champion who puts a stamp on it in every fight.

ohhh i got ya. so you should just street brawl the entire time if you a champion. i thought GSP fight against shields was great. if you fight not to loose and dominate that way it's just smart.

I disagree with the whole "fighting not to lose" argument people throw at GSP. If you watch his last fight against Shields again, even after being gouged in the eye multiple times, he was throwing a powerful overhand right that just was not connecting. I think it has more to do with the fact that top contenders are top contenders for a reason: they're extremely tough. When you have the No. 1 and 2 fighters in the world in a given weight class competing, it's tougher to see a finish.

Doesn't have to be a street brawl.  You can grapple all you want as long as you're doing something.  I love submission artists just as much as brawlers.  The GSP/Shields fight was pathetic.  If I remember correctly, GSP was somehow outstruck by Jake Shields.  That's like being outwrestled by Kimbo Slice.

That's another thing, some fans attack people who like more action in their fights. Acting like we are too dumb to appreciate ground work. Not true, I love the ground game appreciate transitions, sub attempts, ground striking. I just get a little bent out of shape about the stalling and point fighting that happens so often.

I don't understand why everyone automatically assumes that Condit is going to become some boring point fighter. He tried to knock Diaz out earlier in the fight, and realized that he was NOT going down. When you know that street brawling a guy will lose you a decision, of course you don't do it. This game plan doesn't work on someone like GSP, and he won't try to use it on him. Condit can knockout nearly everyone in the division, and will almost certainly continue to try against anyone who's chin isn't made of solid brass.
