Here's what I have.  If I believed Diaz was retired he'd be out of the top 10, but I'll give him some time.  Ellenberger has beaten more ranked fighters than Diaz so he takes 3rd.

Till Condit (or someone else) beats him, GSP is #1 WW. I'm gonna have to drop Nick Diaz unless he'll back fighting within 11 months.

#3 is bold but Askren is special indeed.

Askren at 3#? this isnt the WWE - Hes gotta show he is capable of something else against someone in the top 10 before I can put in there.

Cesar Gracie says Diaz isn't retired and (just about) seems more level-headed then Nick. I think Askren deserves to be in the #10 at least (or would that be at the most?)

In what parallel universe is Carlos Condit or Martin Kampmann better than Georges St. Pierre???!!! GSP is number one *******! How dare anyone disagree. GSP will destroy Condit upon his return and show all of you heathen doubters who the welterweight king is!

The parallel universe where a lot of people take a fighter off their rankings after a year of inactivity.

So if you don't see or hear from a parent for a long time you simply believe that they don't exist?

GSP would be the favorite against everybody else on anybody's list.  He just dropped off a lot of lists for inactivity because you have to draw a line somewhere, and a year is a convenient line to draw.

By your logic Bas Rutten should still be top 10 in his weight class.  So should everyone who ever retired near the top.

Agree @Dakej... the fault in my rankings is that I didn't take him out completely... but only b/c of inactivity.  I goes right back to one as soon as he fights again... and a lot MMA media outlets practice the same ranking "policy"... if you're inactive for over a year, you are removed.
