JDM x Burns

Predictions: 11 of 14 Winners, 8 Perfect, 790 Points   |   Tied for 273rd

People are only doubting JDM because of the Hafez fight, but we gotta remember JDM had to cut weight twice in a short amount of period plus Hafez didn't get tested, if I'm not wrong.

Burns doesn't have great wrestling, and his submission skills in MMA are much different than when he competed in BJJ events.

I'm not saying JDM is gonna run through Burns, but I gotta go with Jack cause I expect he won't be jumping guillotines here, and is levels ahead on the feet. Burns is no slouch though.

I have a bet on Holland and about to have a bet on Cutelaba. Always feels bad betting on 0 fight IQ fighters lol.

@don yes it has been some time since the shoulder injury but 10 months away doesn’t change the fact that burns entire shoulder and part of his neck (C4, C5 vertebrae) got completely destroyed against belal. It can heal up but it’s never going to be 100% again, especially since he’s 37. I don’t think he’s going to look like tj but it is very possible that burns can’t wrestle or strike the same way again

@Latrel Dog
No one is doubting JDM or taking any light of him, he's very good but styles makes fight, the reality is if JDM can keep it on the feet, he has a decent chance winning on points/KO. The issue for that gameplan is burnes being the durable fighter that we know will not fold as easy as alot of people think, and he's no fool. And yes whilst Burnes is no Khabib, hes still light years ahead of JDM in the grappling department and we've all seen how JDM has responded to comprimising positions before, you're talking about a submission specialist, that's my 2 cents we'll see what happens today i guess, either way great card.

We will see. One thing that could help is that USADA has now been gone for over 2 months. I think we're gradually going to see more juicy physiques moving forward. It could help increase the finish rate overall in the UFC.
Also throws a huge curveball in trying to pick winners if only one side is on the good sauce of course.

It's not that I would be surprised in a lot of cases if there's a finish. Some of it is you have a very well rounded fighter that can win on points KO or sub, picking the exact method and round then is a lot harder than picking decision if you're trying to maximize the number of points you get when it's all on the table.

I do think Duck made a good point earlier though that the higher the level of fighters the more decisions you get. They will more reliably show up in shape and no't get stopped from gassing out or making obvious huge technical mistakes. It's harder to finish a good fighter generally than a bad one (what a shocker).

I feel like Blaydes is being overrated in this fight. He dies of stroke after grappling for a round or two and Almeida is the real Heavyweight Merab, complete with roids, athleticism and gas tank. Blaydes avoids wrestling because it tires him tf out despite it being his speciality, and all Almeida will do is wrestle grapple wrestle grapple wrestle grapple strangle. Blaydes will do more to get to his feet than Lewis, and eventually that'll cost him. Blaydes didn't look the bigger man at the face off either so I don't wanna hear about Almeida being a pumped up Light Heavyweight.
